A Look at the Toshiba 2TB SATA 3.5-inch Computer Hard Drive - Image 1

The Toshiba MK2002TSKB computer hard drive features enhanced power condition state technology, high storage capacities, performance efficiencies, and enterprise-class reliability which are perfectly suited to business operations. With an industry high storage capacity of two terabyte, the drive looks pretty much like a consumer-type HDD. It makes use of a standard 3.5-inch form factor, allowing system builders to avail themselves of the 3.5-inch based storage frame.

The MK2002TSKB which is a high-capacity and one of the most cost-effective models of computer hard drive from Toshiba features a 7,200 RPM spin speed, a leading-edge 3GB/sec SATA (Serial ATA), and 6GB/s SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) interfaces, while leveraging a 64 MB cache memory. As with all Toshiba series of HDDs, the MK2002TSKB avail Toshiba’s history and technical expertise in enterprise-class storage. It also proffers about the same features as the standard enterprise-class computer hard drives including ECC (Error Correction), up to one and a half million hours of MTBF (mean time between failure), 24 x 7 operation, a five year warranty, and RV (Rotational Vibration) technology for multi-drive systems, thereby justifying its price-tag.

In spite of the fact that it comes with just one SATA (Serial ATA) interface, the MK2002TSKB costs relatively double the price of the low-priced mainstream hard drives. Toshiba justified its reason for the price-tag by specifying the ML2002TSKB for 24 x 7 operations and designed it to enable low cost per gigabyte in enterprise environments. In addition to this, the drive is aimed to support the company’s enhanced power condition state technology which allows it to automatically adjust its power consumption either by turning off the swindler motor or by lessening the controller’s clock speed during operation.

On the enterprise storage front, the powerful hard drive offers much better cost per gigabyte compared to its close competitors in the mould of other enterprise storage HDDs that operate at a swifter spindle speed. The drive certainly makes a viable alternative especially if the anticipated usage scenario is more about extensive capacity and long-term data backup rather than high performance.

On the contrary, the MK2002TSKB computer hard disc drive model is designed to support not just enterprise apps, but also those applications where high capacity, performance and reliability are required. Cases in point here include DAS, SAN, and NAS. Others are entry level servers, cloud storage, tiered storage system architecture and data centres. The SATA (Serial ATA) interface included in the drive puts it near the line storage apps standpoint where storage capacity and reliability are underlying concerns and where performance needs to be good enough.

The MK2002TSKB weighs 1.8 lb, and measures 10.2 cm x 14.7 cm x 2.5 cm dimension wise. As with other series of computer hard disc drives from Toshiba, the unit is Microsoft certified, plus it is compatible and reliable with 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft Windows 7.
