Now a days video calling has become an important aspect of every business meeting and connecting with family friends. To make video calling simpler and easier, Google has introduced a new Video calling app called Google Duo.


What is Google Duo?

Google Duo is one to one video calling app available for free for Android and iOS. This app was released at Google I/O on 16 August 2016. Duo seems to be a competitor for Face Time and Skype. Meanwhile, many mobile application development in India and USA started developing mobile apps that are similar to Duo.

How does Duo work?

While registering to the app, you will need to enter your phone number. Google will send you a one-time password (OTP) via SMS. OTP need to be entered in order to verify your number. All the contacts will be synchronized from the Phone contacts. Upon completing all the above step, Duo will be ready to make video call. If you want to start the video calling, click on the preferred contact.

Knock Knock

Google's Duo unique feature is Knock Knock, which lets you see live video of your caller before you answer on the other end of the line. Knock Knock makes video calling more welcoming, by helping you connect with the person before you even pick up.

End-to-end encryption

Data Privacy is more and more important nowadays, Google Duo calls are all end-to-end encrypted. By using end-to-end encryption, your video calling info can't be viewed from third parties or even Google itself.

Fast, reliable and simple

Google Duo is simple to start call and finish it. UI design is very simple. Just click on contact and start calling. We all know how we feel when a call disconnects suddenly. To be fast and reliable, Duo uses QUIC over UDP so that video calls connect quickly and work well even on slower networks. Video call quality adjusts according to network conditions to stay connected when bandwidth is limited and then Duo reduces the resolution. Duo switches between Wi-Fi and cellular data automatically without dropping your call.
