The appearance of the word “logo” can be taken back to ancient Greece. A logo basically referred to a form of symbols consisting of the designer name which is used for easy recognition among the audience. Such logos/ symbols were broadly used as monograms of the dynasties and their rulers in the ancient Greek and Roman coins. During the 13th century, the notion of logo design developed from the ordinary symbols to differentiate trademarks for a range of organizations and traders.

The development of a logo as in vital branding policy started off in the 1800’s. This was manifest by the renowned story of a London based souvenir dealer named Marcus Samuel whose business was to sell shell covered boxes. With the passage of time his business prospered and thus he diversified himself by started dealing with a range of objects like jewels, kerosene and oil. By the year 1830 his company was recognized throughout the world. By the year of 1897 his company was universally known as the Shell transport and trading company being visually represented by a plain seashell as its logo/trademark, which later on become of the successful and won the world’s best known logo design. With the establishment of the popular “Rock of Gibraltar” this particular trademark served not only as a logo design but also anticipated company as a powerful entity possessing the analogous attributes of security and endurance as that of “Rock of Gibraltar”. This is the best example about how a graphical image can communicate the message better than words.

Over the years, swift industrialization led to strong competition, which in turn results to an increased significance of having a logo as the brand identifier. A distinct and a different logo design plays a very crucial part in the strategy of company’s branding. Today if you just look around you will notice that there are thousands of logos and with the time many more are added every year, of which only a few are successful in making a place in our mind which we actually remembers or stays in our mind. In this situation every company is strivi9ng for a unique and a memorable logo and as logo also helps in building stronger brand image and presence.

In the present era, a logo is not just a graphical image designed or a text to represent a company. A range of factors is taken into consideration that leads to a good logo design. A logo design is the outcome of a great research, which can only be carried out by professional logo design organizations. A good logo design played an essential part in the success of a company or a brand. With the pace of technology and globalization there is a great increment in a variety of brands and companies. The marketplace is getting even more competitive as more brands are flowing in so a good logo can give a company a competitive edge over other brands so hiring a professional for logo design is the right option.
