Mobile applications and games have served as the best medium of entertainment for many people. Both Android and iOS application developers are putting a value-added effort in application development. Companies are spending a lot of money to gain users for their apps. But how many companies become successful in a long engagement of users with their app?

Uninstalling the app by users is always a disturbing thing for the company. It is essential for both iOS and Android app development company to figure out what would make a user to uninstall the apps from their smartphones?

The following are most common reasons which will force users to uninstall the app or game:

1. Lack Of User Requirements:

Users feel good if installed app is upto the mark with the user requirements. Customer’s expectation is the prime factor in each application development business. Though the app is incorporated with a number of feature and functionality, all are in vain if it lacks user requirements.

If the apps do not possess functions that users are hoping then that app will get uninstalled within a minute. For example, user installed an app for photo editing and it lacks the function of photo cropping.

2. Too Many Push Notifications:

Many apps come up with a heavy amount of push notifications. Users never expect interruption while using the mobile app. For example, push notifications while playing an online game will always cause annoyance to the users.

Most apps fail to implement a mute function for such push notifications. Hence, interruption due to unwanted push notifications will make user to delete the app.

3. Complex Registration And Login Process:

Today, many users do not have the patience of going through the registration and login process. Most of the times, after installing an application, it asks for user registration. Sometimes, this registration process is too complex and consumes lot of time. Users always expect that app should provide a quick access to its functionality without holding them for registration or sign up.

For example, to play Android game Wordament users need to sign up with Microsoft account.

Social signup is another major hurdle which may cause app/game deletion. Many users refuse to connect the app with their social media accounts.

4. Bad User Interface:

Nowadays, users expect the great design of apps. The good UI consists:

  • Neatly arranged tabs

  • Standard buttons

  • Interactive navigation menu

  • Readable fonts and more

The app design and layout is reflective of the quality and credibility. The bad design and layout will give another reason for users to uninstall the app. So iOS and ould always be cautious about better UI/UX designs.

6. Memory Consumption:

Many apps freeze or crash for several reasons. One of the main reason of crashing the mobile app is not to have enough memory in a smartphone. If the app is memory consuming, a user will delete the large sized app in order to free memory space.

Updating of an app to a newer version can also cause too much lagging. The frequent crashing due to insufficient memory, force user to delete the app.

7. Excess Battery Consumption:

An app that consumes a lot of battery is more likely to be deleted. Some apps and games require internet connectivity, and this will cause huge battery drainage. Many apps do not support auto locking function and they keep consuming battery as long as phone is unlocked.

Also, apps handle background processes. For example, the process running in background for the online synchronization of mails. Such background process consumes a lot of battery.

8. Advertisements:

App development companies display many ads to promote other products and services. Displaying ads can make application stuffed with excess content.

The ads are a visual interruption for the users. If the ads are out of user’s personal interest, at very next moment user will delete an app from the smartphone. Such kind of app also causes user to suspect that app is hosting the malware.

9. Slow In Nature:

Insufficient memory is one of the reasons in slowing down the performance of app. But, many apps load slowly even though there is enough storage place in the smartphone. This happens only because of bad coding practices and lack of app testing.

10. Bad User Reviews:

Highly praised applications are always popular among the people. If the application fails to deliver intended services to the user, this will cause bad reviews for the app. If the app has bad reviews in App Store or Play Store, users can simply delete the app from their smartphones.

Above are the most obvious reasons that cause uninstallation of the app. It is not necessary that app which consumes a lot of battery and memory space are likely to be deleted. There are some exceptions too. For example, some apps consume a lot of battery and memory but still provide better functionality to the users.

Hence, top mobile app developers should always focus on useful features and functionality that users expect. Because the app that behaves as per user’s expectation can make a good fortune in the market.
