iOS Developers Required Apple’s Approval to Edit App Descriptions - Image 1

In the recent development, there has been one significant policy change in the iTunes Connect interface stop permitting iOS developers to update app descriptions, edit notes and metadata without Apple’s permission. However, the formal announcement will yet to made by Apple.

The quite change in policy for the iTunes certainly, means that have to developers must now develop a new app version and modify the metadata and submit it for approval. Until this update, iOS developers can change lots of aspects of their App Store listing. Moreover, they could change this anytime. Apple changes this rule as they now require Apple’s approval to make changes in the submitted description and images.

The change also includes editing the app description text and also ‘What’s New’ notes. Privacy Policy URL is the lonely thing which is an editable field on the page. The change is pretty annoying for developers as even the minor changes in the text now need to be reviewed by Apple. Therefore, the entire process is very much time-consuming.

It also means that even simple typos in the notes for a newly-released update are now much harder stuff to correct. With this update, developers can’t change screenshots or the app name without uploading a new version; these have always required upfront approval. The inconvenience of this decision is alleviated somewhat by the fact as most of this app updates are now approved within 24 hours.

Thus, with this update even simple mistakes in user-facing App Store text will now take several hours, at best, to amend. It also results that the App Review queue will now be congested with developers who are just sending their present app description and images for review purpose.
