6. Use a hardware based firewall
A reliable firewall is of utmost importance because it will prevent your computer from a variety of vulnerabilities. However, a software based firewall is not enough to protect your PC by itself. For this reason, as long as you connect your PC to the internet, it would be in your best interest if your computer is secured by a hardware-based firewall.
