Do's and Don'ts While Designing Audio Visual Displays

Audio Visual displays can be great for attracting prospective customers and conveying your message to these customers. However, they are a double edged sword that could go against you if used/designed improperly.

Here are a few do’s and don’ts to keep in mind while designing your Audio Visual displays: -

The Do's

  1. Plan your display design - Take all the time you need to carefully consider the design of your audio visual displays. Haste makes for poorly designed and executed displays, and that is not what you need for your business.

  2. Keep the Audience in mind - Consider the audience that will be attending the expo or exhibition where you will be presenting your product or service and installing these displays.

  3. List all the points you want to convey - Make a note of all the points that your display is supposed to convey to execute them with less chance of errors and come across well.

  4. Pay attention to detail - Successful audio visual displays must be perfectly executed, with the meaning of the communication being very clear and straightforward. Details like grammar and punctuation should be given special attention while designing these displays. The smallest of grammatical errors can change the entire meaning of a sentence, which could have grave consequences, as an audio visual message once delivered cannot be taken back.

  5. Ensure an optimum location - When you are putting in the effort to design stunning audio visual displays, don’t let placement get in the way of you making an impact on customers. Make sure your displays are clearly visible from a reasonable distance, from where they can grab the attention of customers.

  6. Use bright colors - The use of bright and vibrant colors can form a wonderful impression on casual customers that happen to glance at your displays. However, do not use garish, gaudy color schemes with absurd and shocking combinations like fluorescent shades.

  7. Keep It Simple - Cluttering the content of the message that you wish to convey via audio visual displays will only keep customers from paying attention. Information should be concise, accurate and straightforward. Emphasize on key points.

The Don’ts

  1. Over-complicate it - Use simple, straightforward sentences that are easy to understand in one go. Messages that are long paragraphs are going to get totally ignored, as people today just don’t have the kind of attention span to allow them to fully read such paragraphs.

  2. Undermine the value of subtlety - Not all communication has to be loud and in-your-face. Subtlety is a great pull factor that generates interest in the minds of people that view your displays.

Audiovisual display design is subject to several factors. However, keeping these do’s and don’ts in mind can help you get better at designing and executing them for optimum results.
