How Has Video Grown So Quickly Online?

With so many different ways to drive traffic to your business, be that online or offline, people in the industry are always looking for new ways to be ahead of their competition. The latest success story; video.

Why? Because it is easy to create, share and watch videos.
In fact, people can spend hours and hours trawling through videos on YouTube without even thinking about it.
Video strategy and marketing has always been around in terms of advertisements or virals through sites like YouTube but with the introduction of social media websites like Vine, the internet has exploded with videos.

Your everyday average Joe is now able to video a short video of himself doing something funny, upload it to the internet and have access to millions of viewers. It’s quick, it’s simple, but above all, it’s effective.

Snap chat is another social networking type website that has incorporated video sharing into its functionality and a few smart marketers have jumped onto this technique already. By uploading a 5 - 10 second video and sharing it with Snap chat and Vine friends, not only can you improve brand awareness but it is a great way to promote a new product.

Online campaigns are still extremely effective and will be for some time, but unless you are really creative with your content, it’s not going to get shared as much as something that gets your audience interested. A good example of this was an advert created by Hub.tv for Axe last year:

This video is not only funny, but you will remember it too.
Here is what we suggest:

Utilize Social Platforms

Social platforms like we mentioned, are easy to manage, easy to understand and easy to outreach. So, if you create a video or some content that will engage your audience and make them feel inclined to share it, then you could improve your online traffic ten-fold. They’re FREE too, which is always a bonus.
Be Unique

Nine times out of ten, if you have thought of an idea, someone else has already done it, so it is important to think outside the box and get your creative heads on in order to find that little gem. Sometimes an advert has nothing to do with its product, which can lead to people remembering it and talking about it.
Understand Your Audience

This is arguably the most important thing to consider. Your audience are the people that you want to appeal too so it is about keeping them happy. Do some testing; if your customers like the videos that are funny, the likelihood are they will share it. If your funny videos are getting next-to-no views, it’s probably best you give that approach up.
The important thing to remember is video strategy is a current practice that is popular, and although this might change, it is vital that you incorporate it into your existing online campaign. By doing this, you can appeal to a wider audience as some will like reading content, others with like to interact with you via social media websites like Facebook and Twitter and others will learn about your brand through video.
