Having a printer at home is a blessing but the problem is that when you are out of ink, you have to find it very daunting to spend money on purchasing new ink cartridge because it can be very much expensive. Purchasing a printer is easy but not purchasing ink cartridges. That is because these ink cartridges can be a lot more expensive than a printer. In order to avoid the frustration, you have to be careful when purchasing the printer. There are such printers available too that do not let you print even if a single color in the color cartridge section is empty despite the fact that you have black ink available in sufficient quantity. If you had accidently purchased this printer, it can drain much of your money.

The option of refilling ink cartridges is available now but people are still stuck in the dilemma thinking whether they should refill the ink cartridges or replace them. Honestly, this has become a common question today among the people, who don’t have much knowledge about both the options. Before you decide which one will be best, it is important that you take a look at some pros and cons of each procedure and then decide where to invest your money in.

Is refilling good?

You can easily find a lot of ways for refilling your ink cartridges. You can either get them refilled from the printer refilling stations or refill them at home by using the ink refilling kits. The best thing about refilling the ink cartridges is that they can make you save a lot of money. It can literally save you half of the price which you might have spent on purchasing new ink cartridges. Another benefit of refilling is that you can use the ink cartridges to their full, and they are not dumped into waste where they have to be a part of the landfills for years and years to come. This will help in reducing waste from the environment.

Dark side of refilling

You might find refilling really attractive because it is a great way to save a significant amount of money, and it can be healthy for the environment but there are several disadvantages of using them. The major drawback of these ink cartridges is that they are not as reliable as the original ones.

It has been reported that more than 72 percent of the refilled ink cartridges are poor in quality. That’s not the only problem, you might also have to see a clogged nozzle, and the printer quality will hence be affected. Although you are saving the environment as well as money but these advantages will be offset because there will come a time when you will have to replace your printer in the end. This will cost you a lot of money.

You can also find inexpensive ink refilling kits from which you can refill the ink cartridges at home but they can be really messy. They require delicate dealing, and not all individuals are good at refilling. You can either overfill them or they might leak inside the printer. This will create a lot of mess for you because you will be wasting resources.

Replacing ink cartridges

Now let’s see the option of replacing ink cartridges. Refilling can save money but it is usually recommended to purchase new ink cartridges once you are out of ink. They come with several benefits. The first quality of replacing the empty cartridges with new ones is that they are much reliable. The cartridges will have quality ink and there will be no fear of leakage. You will not have to face the problem of nozzle clogs because they will be manufactured by the genuine cartridge producers. High quality print outs will be produced and your print will work flawlessly.

Dark side of replacing ink cartridges

Although the refilled ink cartridges are a lot cost effective but in the long run , they can turn out to be really expensive if the per page output is calculated. A printer head can last for just that much time in which the last drop from the cartridge is consumed. If the cartridge will be refilled, it will not perform the way it is meant to be.

No matter how useful replacing the ink cartridges can be, it can drain a significant amount of money from your pocket. They can be much expensive than the printer itself. Also, the manufacturing of cartridges can produce a lot of waste and consume additional resources. Throwing the cartridges away after one time of use will make the environment damaging for humans, plants as well as animals.

If you don’t want to waste money on the ink cartridges then you can use genuine ink cartridges along with the refilled ones. This will not make you compromise on quality of the prints and printer too.
