Whilst many people think that new gadgets or I.T systems are mostly for entertainment and enjoyment, there are loads of new options which could actually help improve your health. Whether it's helping you develop a successful new workout routine or giving you the motivation to keep going - technology has a role to play. We're going to look at some of the best new gadgets for getting healthy and leading a better lifestyle.
1. Sleep monitor alarm clocksDid you know that your mood and energy level for the following day depend hugely on
when you're woken up? That doesn't just mean you need as much sleep as possible. You could actually feel better after LESS sleep if you wake up at the "right" time.
You body goes through a number of sleep phases from light to deep. Being jolted out of a deep phase is generally not recommended. That's why having an alarm clock that goes off at an arbitrary time might not be the best idea. There is a new range of alarm clocks that only wake you when the time is right. They monitor your sleep pattern and wake you during a lighter sleep phase, setting you up for a more productive day.
2. GPS WatchThese are especially good for those who like to go for a long run. They'll track your activity and allow you to record (and share) your route. That's alongside a whole host of other data, too. You'll be able to see how many calories you've burnt, check your heart rate and see how far you've run. Such analytical power allows you to develop a better route or look to try and "beat" previous scores.
3. E-cigarettesE cigarettes have taken the health market by storm in recent years. They're actually far more healthy than smoking tobacco and a great way to
give up smoking altogether. They act in a similar way to patches by giving you a small amount of nicotine to help ease you off of tobacco, but they also allow the user to still "feel" like they're smoking without actually doing so.
Tobacco cigarettes have got tons of harmful chemicals in them which e-cigarettes don't. E-cigs better for your health and they should be able to help you quit altogether, too.
4. Fitness appsThere are a wide range of new smart phone apps that aim to track your activity and recommend new ways to improve it. You can compete with friends or simply go it along. These apps provide vast swathes of data which can help you keep on top of exactly where you're going right or wrong. Some of them work in a similar way to the GPS watch we already looked at, but with funkier graphics and at a much lower cost.
5. Smart ScalesThese intelligent weighing platforms don't just tell you your weight, they've got a whole host of other data too. Like BMI and body fat percentages. All of which are useful to those trying to get in shape.
