The past few weeks were marked by internet-wide news break, as anonymous hackers somehow managed to obtain explicit pictures of various Hollywood celebs and publicized the materials over the Internet. Although, such leaks are nothing new, but these recent ones did sound a loud (and worrying) alarm.
In order to avoid such private data leaks via mobile devices, computers or cloud spaces, follow these 7 tips to stay secured in iCloud:

1. Make use of unique and strong passwords for each account for added data security.
2. Prefer using endpoint security solutions for protecting (all) your devices. This is absolutely necessary because just about any device can serve as a gateway to your cloud storage.
3. Carefully filter out the data that should be and should not be stored in the cloud space. Cloud security mechanisms, no matter how powerful and advanced, should not be trusted for storing highly sensitive information.
4. Enable and make use of two-factor authentication services whenever possible.
5. Mobile devices can be very easily stolen or lost. Make sure that the device itself does not contain any sensitive information stored on it. Even if the device does contain any sensitive data, make sure proper encryption is in place.
6. If you are planning to store highly personal or sensitive data (such as photos and videos), double check your device that it doesn't automatically upload multimedia data onto the cloud.
7. Before you share your personal data, or before you allow someone to take your picture, always ensure that the other device is adequately secured to prevent inadvertent exposure of your personal data.
