Many users accidentally delete some files and folders from their computer systems. Microsoft Windows save deleted files and folders of a partitioned drive in the Recycle Bin folder. User can recover deleted partition data till it is saved in the Windows Recycle Bin. However, you cannot manually recover files and folders that are deleted from the Windows Recycle Bin. Windows partitions of a computer can be deleted or damaged due to disk formatting, hard disk corruption and virus infection. Therefore, it is better to save all important documents and other files of your computer in a Backup archive. You can create backup of your Windows partition data using NT backup Exec of Microsoft Windows or any freeware Backup tool.


Different cases of Windows corruption and manual recovery options


Beforehand, you can restore inaccessible partition data of your computer, it is quite important to know the exact cause of data loss.


Case 1: If you’ve formatted your computer drive, then all previous Windows partition data will be wiped out. In that scenario, a recent Backup folder will help you in restoring old partition data of your computer.


Case 2: Virus, adware and spyware programs make some files and folders of your computer unreadable. It is therefore, advisable to scan your computer drive with a powerful antivirus program. You must also regularly update your Antivirus program to protect your Windows data recovery software from latest virus and spyware threats.


Case 3: Missing or corrupt Windows system files will unstable your computer system and as a result, you cannot access NTFS or FAT partitions of your computer. Microsoft Windows XP and higher Windows versions comprises of Recovery Console feature that can restore missing Windows system files and help users in recovering inaccessible partition data of their computers. If you’re one of those Windows 2003 users, then following steps will help you in restoring inaccessible NTFS or FAT partitions of your computer:


  1. Insert Windows 2003 startup disk into your CD-ROM drive

  2. Check your ROM-BIOS settings and select CD-ROM as first boot drive

  3. Save the new BIOS settings

  4. When a message, Boot from a CD drive prompts on your screen, press Enter key

  5. When Windows 2003 setup start, press R button that will display Recovery Console command prompt

  6. Type Recovery Console command at the command prompt to copy missing Windows system files into your computer drive from the Windows CD

  7. After successful command operation, exit Recovery Console by typing Exit at the command prompt

  8. Remove Windows 2003 start-up disc from the CD-ROM drive and restart your computer


Recovery Console is best option to restore MS Windows in the normal state. It help users in recovering corrupt files and folders of their computers when Backup folder is unavailable.


Case 4: Your computer hard disk has developed Bad sectors that prevent you from accessing some files and folders in your system. Use CHKDSK command at the DOS prompt to recover inaccessible NTFS or FAT partition data from disk bad sectors. However, CHKDSK fails to retrieve Windows data if your computer drive has multiple bad sectors.


You can’t recover the deleted NTFS or FAT partitions of a computer manually without a Windows Backup folder. Using third party software, you can quickly recover deleted Windows partitions of your computer.

    Hi, Nice Topic. When users lost their data then firstly they look for the manual options to recover their deleted files. However, unfortunately, they don’t find any manual solution to recover the deleted files, and then a data recovery software is the last resort for them.
