Android L vs Android KitKat: New Features for Developers and Apps

The latest itinerant operating system for Android is the Google Android L. It will be released with little Google Nexus gadgets. This new operating system is till now available as The Developer Preview. Announced in the month of June 2014, this new OS will be open to the public this fall. Although the final name of this OS is still a suspense, but Google has made sure that it will contain a lot of new arenas favorable for the app developers and smart phone users.

Google focuses on the naming of their operating system. They associate them with the names of desserts. As with the last version of Google operating system, Android KitKat became popular, the name along with its working. Although the L word has not been made official, strong sources reveal that Google will name their latest OS as the Android Lollypop.

Changes accompanied by the new OS

The most prominent change done by the Android Application Development Company with the new release is the approachable design language. The newly built user interface comes with the all new design etymology known as the Material Design. It also improves the notification system which makes the user use them from lock screen of any smart phone. They will be displayed in the form of banners across the upper part of the smart phone's screen.

Internal changes have also been made by Google. The Dalvik has been replaced by all new Android Runtime (ART). This gives an enhanced application performance. It will also improve as well as augment the use of batteries in any smart device.

Comparison with Android KitKat

The lock screen has been renewed with fresh features. Added notifications will enhance the working of the Android L gadgets. In addition to what the KitKat devices had, the new platform will be equipped with the options of the following:

  • Swipe for unlocking
  • Left swipe for opening Camera
  • Right swipe for opening the dialer

The navigation buttons on the home screen will be changed in the new platform. They will come in different shapes: square, circle and triangle. This will change the entire look of the gadgets.

As compared to KitKat, the Lollypop will be able to carry on multi-tasking in a more efficient manner. It will help the developers to create new cards for every app. They will have the option of getting close by swiping along with tapping on the X option.

With the launch of Android L, app developers will be able to upgrade their apps supported by the 64 bit processors. An improved battery life will also be there on the cards.

According to the latest reports, the launch of the devices of Google Nexus, namely Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 will reveal the Android L platform to the public. Android App Development Services are burning the candles on the both ends to make this new OS platform a success.
