With the Software app development achieving newer heights, our lives have become more and more gadget-centric. Every day we come across various apps that have made our lives comfortable and easier. And adding to this long list of state-of-the-art innovations, Google recently launched Calendar app. It is believed to be laden with some wonderful and innovative features making it one of the interesting scheduling applications.
The latest Google Calendar app will be configured on devices having the Android 5.0 operating system. In addition to this, it is widely speculated that Google also plans to launch advanced versions of the app which can run efficiently on iOS and Android 4.1+ and this new Google Calendar app is more likely to act as a personal assistant.
My post here lists down some of the astounding inbuilt features of new Google Calendar app:

Events

In this hectic life, when you have to do multitasking and in such situations keeping a track of your schedule adds to the troubles.

When you make a booking for a flight or reserve a hotel room you get an e-mail notification stating the dates and times.

Now, the catch is that, this app will store these details from e-mails into the “events” feature in your calendar.

So, in case, there are any delays in the scheduled flight, the calendar will immediately update in real-time. The bottom line; you do not require to switch the apps to see the information.

Assists

This feature bears a lot of similarities in to the “auto-complete” feature that comes as an in-built feature in Google Search.

Google is well aware of the challenges that users face while feeding in phone numbers and contact details from the e-mails into calendar - manually. Primarily to solve this issue, this feature will give suggestions like titles, places and people, as you start entering the information into the recent Google Calendar app.

Schedule View

Apart from the above mentioned features, this new Calendar app comes with a “Schedule view” which displays the images and maps of the places that you plan to visit.

Schedule View gives modern look with a design that goes well with the currently released Google Inbox app.

If going by what Google said in their blog post; these images gives that “little” beauty to the day, and make it simple to view what’s going on from an eagle’s eye - a perfect thing especially when you are checking in using your phone or tablet,”

Material Design

The new Google Calendar app comes with “Material Design”, Google’s very own flat interface elements that work on grid-based principles and depth effects.

Material Design helps in keeping Google’s interface elements steady across different mobile devices and desktops as well.
Gmail, despite the hype Inbox built, still isn’t abandoning its traditional email app. This app is likely to improve UI with smoother animations and some new features. One of the considerable change here is the addition of support for non-Gmail email providers as well where user is allowed to set up separate inboxes using POP/IMAP.
