Research In Motion, now simply named BlackBerry, is making headlines right now. They just recently released the Z10, a touchscreen smartphone that boasts their new OS the BlackBerry 10 OS. It’s a huge revamp from previous versions.
As a whole, the Z10 is now similar to other leading smartphones in the market. It has a large touchscreen and an operating system that takes advantage of it. It also contains high - end components similar to other top smartphones.
How does its hardware compare to other phones, such as the industry - leading Samsung Galaxy S III? Let’s take a look, shall we?
Design
The BlackBerry Z10 joins the fray of smartphones with big screens. Featuring a 4.2 inch screen, it is rectangular in design with soft corners, reminiscent of the iPhone, but much simpler in design. It is 0.4 inches thick, 2.6 inches wide and 5.1 inches long.
The Galaxy S III is larger than the Z10. It features a 4.8 inch screen. It features curved ends instead of being purely rectangular. It’s thinner at 0.33 inches, but is longer and wider, measuring 5.37 x and 2.77 inches wide.
Screen
As mentioned earlier, the BlackBerry Z10 has a 4.2 inch screen. It has a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, giving it a high pixel density. It certainly matches up with the other smartphones out there.
As for the Galaxy S III, it has a 4.8 inch screen with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720. It makes use of a Super AMOLED display, resulting in very bright colors and smooth images.
Camera

The Galaxy S III has more storage choices, from 16 GB to 64 GB. On top of that, you also have a micro SD card slot for further expansion.
Processor
Processors are very important in smartphones. They handle all the tasks and make sure the interface flows smoothly, that’s why manufacturers place a lot of emphasis on them. They also handle the graphics for great - looking games.
In the Z10, you get one of the best processors right now, the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4. It’s a dual - core processor with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz.
For the Galaxy S III, you’ll find Samsung’s very own Exynos quad - core processor. It has a clock speed of 1.4 GHz. This allows the phone to perform amazing stunts, such as running multiple apps at the same time.
Overall though, both of the phones are smooth in terms of operation. You’ll barely notice the difference.

Regarding the Z10 and its competitiveness, I believe it will sell well, mainly due to people being tired of iOS, Android and not convinced by Windows Phone.
