Are Health Professionals With The Latest Technology Better?

There is competition in just about every industry. The verdict usually seems to favor the businesses with the latest and greatest technology. Think about it, technology is cool and everyone is fascinated by it. Would you rather go to a dentist who is drilling out your tooth with a noisy drill where you see some sort of smoke arising from your mouth, or would you rather go to a dentist in PA who is using a quiet water laser drill that is precise and painless?

Skill vs. Technology

Sometimes there is a debate in the health care industry whether the latest technology is needed when the doctor has a great deal of experience and skill in his field without the technology. So what is it then? Does skill trump technology or is it better to have the latest technology for your practice? What will give you the best results? What will attract patients more?

In the health field there is one universal truth. Knowing your trade and giving great service to your patients will lead to referrals and ultimately more patients. This is where the answer lies. You could have the latest tools and technology but without the skill, knowledge, and character to offer outstanding service you won't get the business that is competitive with a doctor who is personable. The cool and latest technology has its place though. Having the best equipment will increases the patient's satisfaction and experience. It will increase their trust in your methods and procedures.

The Whole Experience

The focus should really be in the whole experience of the customer. Imagine a dentist with years of experience and a great friendly personality. Now combine this dentist with powerful computer technology, a beautiful office, great tools like the new laser water jet, and you have yourself an unbeatable combination of skill and technology that the patients will adore.

The Truth is that you can get away with continuing your practice based just on your skill and experience. You will still get those faithful patients who love you and no one else, and they'll still refer you to their friends and family. You cannot, however, slip by with only the latest technology and no experience. Patients will see right through this façade and will feel like they haven't received the treatment they paid for. When you are able to combine both skill and technology, then you will find yourself in the best situation.
