SEO is a very popular way of promoting your business but the results arenât always immediate. However they can be very rewarding if you give it the time and effort to grow. The time and effort does cost money but itâs a very effective way of getting your business known. There are two ways you can use SEO for your business. You can choose to do it in house or via an agency and whilst there is no right and wrong way to do it, in my personal opinion there is a preferred way! I also spoke with Zac @ Speechless Digital, SEO specialists based in Essex, and we came up with their respective pros and cons.

SEO can be a complicated and tricky business, especially if you donât have a totally clear idea of the process involved and how it works. An agency will be able to complete your SEO more efficiently and quicker than you will, however, there will be more costs involved. The results should be more clear however and the metrics of your website will be clearly presented to you during the process. Ultimately, youâll hand over more control of your website SEO to the agency so its important that you get the correct one to complete your SEO

If you have some knowledge of SEO, keeping it in house will save you money in the short and long term, however, now you are completely reliant on yourself and your employees to do it correctly. SEO can be a complicated and long process and its easy for it to have a negative effect on your business if done wrong. Do you research properly before hand and read online forums and advice websites to get a better understanding of what your undertaking.

As said previously, there is no right or wrong way to do SEO, however in my personal experience, trying to do it yourself is a one way ticket to negative impact and bad metrics (unless you have years experience in the industry). Using an agency gives you the guarantee of a professional job with positive results and whilst doing it yourself will save you money, you could be affecting your business in a long term negative way. You could even go for a combination of both if you decide to go down that road!
