Using Technology To Increase Book Readership

People love their books. But people also run out of time. Then they don’t get to read anymore and everybody loses. But, with a little nudge from some new technology, everyone is back in the saddle again.
This new technology is going to come from three different directions. First, USB microphones are cheap enough to be used by anyone now, and are high quality in terms of audiobook narration. Second, computer digital audio workstations are now affordable. And third, digital audio editing is becoming more consumer-friendly. The following point illustrate how all of the leads to a better listener/reader experience.
Narration With Popular Titles
Popular books that you used to have to read are now available on audio devices thanks to new technology. The King James Bible is available in audio format now! Do you know how exciting that is for people who absorb information better by hearing than reading? That’s a huge benefit for people who are busy or concentrate better that way.

Downloadable Books
Books that you used to have to go to the library to check out are now available to get digitally, which you can download through audiobook sellers. This means that readers have many more options when it comes to getting into their favorite author’s back catalogs, all thanks to increases in Internet speed and availability. All this at often a fraction of the cost of previous methods.
Using Music and Audio Samples With Narration
With better recording technology, better mixing software, and better editing techniques available (check out Pro Tools and drool), new pathways are being forged in adding music and sound effects to books as well. This leads to a whole new dimension of appreciation that people are amazed with. Especially if the original author of the book is part of the production squad, plan to be thoroughly immersed in your favorite novels as this type of consumer satisfaction becomes more popular.
Allowing People To Listen On the Go
It can be hard to read much if you’re always driving places. But with audiobooks, and with the ability to stream audio from cell phones, now people can listen to their favorite books as they commute. No more listening to the same five songs on the radio folks. Just be sure to pay attention to driving!
Allowing Writers To Narrate Their Own Books
All of this new technology also allows authors and writers to be more involved in the production of their audiobooks. If they want, they can even narrate their own. Sometimes this is a perfect marriage. Other times it’s a bit of a struggle, but a learning experience for everyone along the way as well. If the author continues to write, often it’s in a way that allows for better narration next time.
