As you may know, people's attention spans are gradually growing shorter and as such, website design must be effective to keep users interested. There are many ways to deliver on this, and over the past few decades, these have undergone evolution to accommodate change in people's preferences.

Ranging from movement and interactivity to beautiful photo-centric websites, there are certainly several ways to make your site bold. And while some may be opposed to the idea of some design elements, they can still factor in a site's design however one prefers. That said, below are some of the hottest trends in Magento E-commerce website.

Flat UI
The increased use of flat user interface is to make content simple and straightforward. With a Flat Ul, the design consists of a bottom and top layer. They contain a solid color and contextual elements respectively. Flat UI is transitional in that it can be reshaped however one wants without compromising on the flow and order of information.

Card layout

To curb the constrictions of mobile devices, designers are now turning to the concept of card layout. The technique is basically a responsive modular layout that is adaptable to all devices. A card layout with an image, couple of actions and text makes it very easy to deliver information and for users to browse. Information that is spread over several pages can be reposition into one with this design concept.

Ghost buttons

This is a fairly new approach to web design. It is minimalist approach to design where the buttons are transparent with a thin strike outline and sans-serif fonts that are light. For websites with high quality images in the background, ghost buttons offer the perfect contrast. They also make it possible for users to be able to see the visuals underlying them. They are more effective for attracting attention compared to the obvious CTAs that we're used to.

Minimalism

Websites are now less cluttered compared to previous years. This means that the palette used is limited and all elements are strongly definitive on their own. Websites with minimalistic design are clean, and give more room to purposely use negative space. The design concept is especially important for websites that need reduced page weight as well as loading time like online stores.

Typography

Typography serves a lot of purposes when it comes to Magento e-commerce website design. For starters, it makes websites subtle, slim and sexy. More importantly, it adds the element of simplicity and minimalism. Responsive typography that allows users to be able to read product descriptions is what designers are putting their focus on. Rather than use Google fonts that were the only option before, designers rely on web kits that give them access to a wider array of fonts.

Video takeover
The main motivation behind this trend is, "Why read when you can watch?" Background images have always dominated homepages. This is changing as more and more sites use videos as their backgrounds. It is a faster and more effective way of delivering content and telling a story in order to make an impact on users.

It is not clear where Magento ecommerce websites will lead us next. But responsiveness being the main goal, the design is and will continue to strive to deliver on that. This means that rather than tread design as an adaptation from desktop design, it will focus on mobile devices. Designers and developers will work consistently to make websites look better and improve on user experience.
