Technology affects everyone, be it big business houses or mere individuals. Especially in the 21st century, technology has become indispensible in our lives as we are dependent on it for everything beginning from international security, national defence, education, communication right down to personal household chores. One of the most important foundational factors of our modern world is therefore technology.
The importance of IT support services

If we look around our immediate surroundings right now, we will be able to notice multiple technology driven products that are affecting us, directly or indirectly, including the PC/Note/phone etc, you are reading this article on. Thus, the importance of technology in our life is evident. Concomitant to this importance is the significance of IT support in our lives. If tomorrow our computers crash, mobiles malfunction, our household appliances go out of order and so forth, we will be greatly inconvenienced. Now, if they same happens to a big corporate house, a central office or a hospital the results might be crippling. To handle such situations dependable and always accessible IT support services are required and hence the increasing demand for a good IT support business.

For this purpose most companies have their own support staff, but for Small and Medium size Enterprises (SMEs) it would be better to outsource the responsibility. Following are a few reasons for outsourcing SME IT Support.

  • Man power- Often SMEs have a modest number of employees, who are required to man their positions at all time. Under such circumstances, putting up a new department of IT would not be wise, as the specialization and administration it would need would be out of the companyâs capacity to provide.
  • Cost effective â This is in conjunction to the last point. The establishment of this new department would want the presence of new employees as well as other set up and administration charges. SMEs have a limited capital base, so this extra expenditure can be responsible for even indebting the company more than its capacity. On the other hand, if the work is outsourced to an existing and specialized company, then only the service charge is incurred.
  • Data recovery/ back up- As mentioned earlier, SMEs have a limited capital base; their profits are also modest in comparison to the big wigs of the corporate world. Thus, they have to monitor their expenditures closely and operate on a restrictive budget. Under such circumstances, keeping a back up of all the data and the option of in house data recovery may throw the budget out of balance, but outsourcing this work makes it affordable.
  • Security â Keeping networks safe is mandatory for not only businesses but even personal users. But for businesses the responsibility and administration required is much greater in size. Thus, when the responsibility of network security is outsourced to a reliable support company, this most crucial job is carried out and updated regularly without adding to the duties of any employee of the SMEs.

Hence, the outsourcing of SME IT Support is not only cost effective, but it also helps the existing employees to concentrate on their present duties without burdening them with addition support functions.
