This course is for all mobile developers who want to learn the basics of app marketing and promotion. Topics include growing your user base and increasing both user engagement and retention. We will also give you an overview of the types of monetization mechanics available to developers. In a world increasingly dominated by freemium apps, we will review how to optimize In-App Purchasing and Mobile Ads. We will dive into what is currently working in user retention and engagement and discuss how to ensure that your users will spend a lot of time with your ads and in-app-purchasing dialogues. Lastly, you will be introduced to Analytics and A/B testing. You will learn how to use data to make good decisions and make good apps that earn more. Our course is taught by Mike Hines, Developer Evangelist at Amazon in Seattle, Washington. Mike comes to Amazon after two startups and 13 years at Microsoft. At Amazon, Mike helped launch the Kindle eInk app development project. Mike has spoken at dozens of national and international conferences, including AnDevCon, SXSW, GDC and GDC Europe. He has has written mobile app test criteria, judged hackathons, and is a blogger for Amazon Appstore. Mike wants to bring developer feedback back to Amazon and is on a continuing mission to find out what is and isn't currently working in mobile app monetization.
