Smart Features that Smartwatch Should Have - Image 1

Just recently, Samsung and Qualcomm launched their first sets of smartwatches for the entire world to ogle about. Some are not so much a fan of the technology. I personally think the gadget is yet another good addition to the wearable technology already existent in the society today. However, like the majority of the audience, I am having trouble seeing the benefit of the gadget to the world. It only brings people closer to the dreaded future of lazy butts and invasion of the machines. These predictions may sound exaggerated but are getting closer to being non-fictional. Besides, these smartwatches did not possess any difference to your usual high-end smartphone. Installing apps, capturing 720p resolution photos and/or video, making calls, and even sending out messages are old news, at least for the smartwatch technology. Why waste money on something you already have in the first place? A few features the tech giants fell short at integrating to this wearable tech are as follows:

Water-Resistant

Since the beginning of time, it’s always been water that opposed the multitude of technologies being delivered to men by the people behind the curtains. They have succeeded in providing sufficient resistance to the enemy in many varieties of technology - watches, cameras, music players, and now even smartphones. Escalating to another level of technology that is wearable tech, the water-resisting feature was not included when it should have been. People are already expectant of the feature and yet it just wasn’t there. Didn’t we have water-resistant watches in the past? Are these companies in too much of a rush to forget that one quite important detail?

Longer Battery Life

One of the characteristics of the Galaxy Gear that was noticed by onlookers is the battery life. The Galaxy Gear is set to deliver time and basic smartphone facilities in an estimated 10-hour battery juice. This is not enough for any user. Just as smartphones are needed for more than a half of a day, so will be the demand for the smartwatch. Also, the number of functionalities compacted into this device will surely take toll on its battery power.

Time-Management

It should be a given that a watch be telling time, so what would make the smartwatch different from your common watch? Well, it could manage time for you. Ain’t that neat? You simply have to put in the tasks you have to accomplish for a specific period of time and let the smartwatch do the fair allotment of time for each task. This way, you could drive yourself into learning how to become organized and manage your time properly with or without the smartwatch.

Protective Capacity

Yet another issue about high-end gadgets is their durability. How much pressure, shock, and shatter can they take before they succumb to oblivion? The smartwatch is comparable to the latest smartphones and should encompass the similar features capable of defending the gadget from all things considered without the need of a protective case. As it is also an accessory, it should be capable of withstanding bumps, smudges, and scratches in both mild and extreme environmental conditions.

For other companies who are just about to release their own versions of the smartwatch, the consumers will be looking into these features so it is probably best to enter these into the list of priorities you already have placed.
