There are three things that classify what a self-luminous rectangular object can be. It can be the handheld devices we call smartphones, or make it larger and wider then you have a tablet. So, what's the third kind, you ask? Simply combine the two together, and now you have a phablet.
Now, a phablet is said to be a smartphone form factor describing devices with a screen between 5 to 6.9 inches in size. It is actually designed to straddle the functionalities of a smartphone and tablet in order for us to eliminate the need of having two devices. This is but a clever thing, right? There are already a lot of phablet iterations meandering over mobile stores. But, hey. Although phablets are good, there are still reasons for tablets to steal the limelight. Let alone having a wide screened gadget pressed against your cheek be seen as somewhat ridiculous. And so, I have enlisted the top three tablets of the year 2013, putting aside what 2014 can offer. You might not know that one of these pristine tablets can still amuse you even if 2014 has already unrolled. Check out the list below:
#3: Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
Yes, it's 2014 Edition, and no, it's not a mistype. Since this tablet is an alleged as a 2014 Edition, you might wonder why it falls on number three. To not get you all out iffy, the Note 10.1 has its own downfall, and that is having lag-times during the access of popup apps and whatnot-evidently, it has performance issues. Nevertheless, you'll love what's under the hood, as it is equipped with 1.9GHz Exynos 5420 quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB internal storage, front and back shooter with 2MP and 8MP respectively, MicroUSB 2.0, microSD slot, 8,220 mAh battery, and an Android 4.3 with TouchWiz and S Pen customizations. Moreover, it has nice crisp display, solid, well-built hardware; and stylus features that only Note 10.1 alone can boast.
#2: Amazon Kindle Fire HDX
Second on the list is Amazon Kindle Fire HDX-the latest of Amazon's series. This 8.9-incher makes watching movies, and reading books as convenient as possible with its 2560 x 1600 screen resolution. Also, aside from it being aesthetically pleasing, it only weights about 13.2 ounces enough for it to be grip-friendly. Given the fact that it is one of the Amazon's series, there's an unwritten command that pushes you to be an Amazon Prime member. There's also an App store for Android that offers apps that you can install on your device. What pulls this seemingly almost perfect tablet down to number two is that it has no inclusion of Google Play Store. So, if you want an app that is only available on Google Play Store, then you can just search for an app from the Appstore that resembles to it. And that I believe is one of the reasons to get a little miffed.

And the tablet that deserved the throne-and almost didn't need any tablet accessory-is no other than the Nexus 7 2013 tablet. This Nexus Tablet is actually the first in line to get the updates with Android KitKat. Although, it is only a 7-incher, it's still packed with 1920 x 1200 screen resolution that gives a 323 ppi. Moreover, it is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset that is clocked at 1.5GHz, and also has a 2GB RAM, 16-32 internal storage, 5 MP rear camera, 2 MP front camera, dual-band WiFi N, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC technology, and the list of awesome specs goes on. Wouldn't you crown Nexus 7 as the king? That being said, it is still the budget tablet to beat.
