Manual Method to Convert Exchange EDB to PST Format

EDB to PST Conversion is one of the required conversion for Exchange Server Administrator. Here in this article, I will explain manual methods instead of paid one to Export EDB file to PST Format. Exchange administrators can use PowerShell, ExMerge & Exchange Admin Center to manually convert Exchange Server EDB fie to PST file format. We will discuss all of them one by one here:

Using PowerShell to Convert EDB file to PST Format:

PowerShell is the Scripting language developed by Microsoft. Just use the PowerShell command mentioned below to perform the entire conversion:

First of all, you have to add the required Snap-ins to PowerShell to perform the required conversion:

Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.E2010

E2010 is the edition of Exchange Server, Here we are using Exchange Server 2010 to perform the required conversion.

After running this command, Use New-MailboxExportRequest to Convert the EDB file to PST format using PowerShell:

New-MailboxExportRequest –Mailbox mailboxName –FilePath \\Server\pst-folder\nameoffile.pst

This will create a PST file of the specified mailbox.

If you want to convert EDB to PST manually without any use of software then Microsoft's free utility Exmerge.exe can be used. When we login to Exchange Server then we can extract data from database. Click on Export/Import and then archive data to a local directory. By this way you can convert Exchange EDB file in PST format. Thanks for sharing this post which explain how to convert exchange edb files to pst, but I already tested the automated solution ( http://www.edbtopstutility.org/ ) that helps to convert edb files from corrupt or inaccessible exchange database and allow to import/export pst, eml and msg format. This tool allows to filter exchange mailboxes on the basis of folder and date range while exporting the mailboxes.
