Mobile and internet banking have become one of the biggest topics these days. This is because of the growth in technology. A lot of things have changed and banking is one of them. Some years back people only knew about the usual banking, where you could go to a bank and get or deposit your money. Today people can do all that online and also using their phones. This has made things easier because you can do your banking in the comfort of your home. If you have a problem you can talk to the respective people online.

Mobile banking and internet banking are the models that are being used by most people today. A lot of people are not able to distinguish between the two and they think they work the same. This is mostly not the case. This is because they do not use the same ways to serve and reach even more people. It is here that most people would ask how is mobile app banking different from internet banking? According to Jitin N at TechAhead Inc. Below are some of the ways that they are different:-

  1. It is easy to reach a lot of people when you are using mobile banking as compared to internet banking. This is because a lot of people have access to a phone and less people to the internet and a PC. This is why mobile banking is more attractive to internet banking. This has been seen in many countries where they have introduced mobile banking, like recently in Kenya where they use M-Pesa mobile banking.

  2. When using internet banking you will have to have access to the internet. This is not the case when you are using mobile banking. When using mobile, you will only need your phone and you will do all you need like depositing, withdrawing, sending money, paying bills and checking your balance. You will do all this without the need of having an internet enabled phone.

  3. Today phones are coming up like the Smartphone’s which are more advanced. They come with applications and if yours does not have it you can download it. The applications will help you when you are dealing with mobile banking. This is not the same case when you are using the internet banking.

  4. When you want to do your transactions when using mobile banking, you will have to look for a service provider who will help you deposit, send or withdraw your money. This is not the case when using internet banking; you can do your transactions online then later go collect your money from the back. You will not need to seek the assistance of the service provider unless you have a problem.

  5. When using internet banking you will need a PC to do that. You will also need a modem to access the internet in the place that you will be doing your banking. This is not the case with mobile banking. You will only need your phone and you will not have to have internet to do your transactions.

  6. It is more easy to use mobile banking than it is to use internet banking. This is because you will not need to pass so many safety checks as it is in internet banking. When using internet banking, they have to make sure that you are the real user of the account. That is why it can be more complex to use internet banking than mobile banking.

  7. It is way safer to use mobile banking than internet banking. This is because when using internet banking, you are more prone to encounter fraudsters and hackers who may steal your money. This is mostly not the case when using mobile banking because you will only get your money from the service providers and not anybody else.

Those are some of the difference between internet and mobile banking. They also have a lot of similarities. You can use either of them depending with the one that you feel will cater for your needs best. Both these methods have advantages and disadvantages that is why before you settle for one, you should do a research on how they work and will serve you best.
