Smartphones will be Outdated Soon - Image 1

Life for all humans has become all about smartphones. We cannot even imagine our lives without a smartphone these days. Alright, this may be a little exaggeration but let’s face reality! We all will be in a chaos if we do not have our smartphones for a day. Businesses will go dysfunctional. It is a small device but its role in businesses and cultures is growing for the good.

Smartphone is a gadget that lets you communicate verbally, textually and virtually with add ons for management of daily tasks. And most importantly it offers internet for performing business and personal activities. This is where the applications come in picture. Generally, they come with in-built apps and a user can also download other apps from the app stores like the Play Store or iTunes. Today, smartphone has become that device that can do anything with the help of apps like task management, social networking, mobile wallets to editing tools, entertainments and games apps.

A Study Highlights Smartphones will Die

With so many capabilities it is difficult to imagine that smartphones will become obsolete. The report by Ericsson Company’s Consumer Lab conducted a survey with more than 100,000 customers in native Sweden and 39 other countries to understand the views on technological expectations and needs for the future.

The respondents in the survey had many expectations. However, half of the respondents think that mobile technology will be a long gone thing by 2021 and there will be many more gadgets and innovations that will rule like artificial intelligence, AR and IoT.

According to Micheal Bjorn, Head of Research at Ericsson Consumer Lab says Some of these trends are futuristic. But the consumer interest in new interaction paradigms such as AI and virtual reality (VR) as well as in embedding the Internet in the walls of homes or even in our bodies, is quite strong.

Another review from Rebecka Cedering Angstorm, Ericsson Consumer Lab said A smartphone in the hand, it is really not that practical. For example, not when one is driving a car or cooking. And there are many situations where display screens are not so good. Therefore, one in two thinks that smartphones will belong to the past within five years.

Agreeing to her viewpoints, having something in the hand will be outdated considering the latest trends of wearables and gadgets. People are expecting more from the innovation industry where convenience and user experience is given the most importance. But five years is still a very small window, I think smartphones are here for a little longer. Let’s see how far the culture of smarphone goes!

If you are thinking of mobile development, then we recommend talking to a mobile development expert who will guide you considering the future aspects of mobile applications. As smartphones may get outdated but mobile apps are here to stay for new innovations like AI or IoT.
