Project Management is Easier with Timesheet
Is it becoming difficult to track the time you spend on a project’s task? Is it becoming challenging to track the progress of those tasks towards the completion. Well, it is no longer challenging to track your time and task progress. Set up timesheets to record time and submit the task status. It helps your project-driven organisation to easily handle employee-time, billing and budget. Timesheet software is fully integrated with project tracking and costing functionality. It provides a comprehensive resource utilisation, project management as well as financial reporting.
Time is the actual number of hours you spend working on a task. There is a difference between time and the progress of the task. To capture the number of hours you spent on different tasks during a week, you need to fill out the timesheet. Capturing the task progression is a broader description of what you currentlyhave done on a specific task and what is left to do to complete the task. For instance, you are assigned with a task that has duration of 40 hours. You spend 8 hours on the task on Monday, 4 hours on Tuesday and 8 Hours on Wednesday. The total time that you spend is 20 hours. This is the time you need to fill in the timesheet. However, when you look at the task progression report, you can be aware of the rest of 20 hours to complete your tasks. When you communicate your estimated percent complete, this is the actual task progression.
Using the single entry mode systemis beneficial for the team members to enter and submit time and progress of task where the actual work is captured in one view. They can also use two separate views. The single entry mode system eradicates the effort involved in submitting the task progress and the time separately. However, when you have to use separate views to enter time and task progress, you have to do one of the following jobs:
Enter the hour spent on a task in both the task view as well as timesheet view
Transfer the hour spent on a task from the timesheet view to the tasks view
Transfer the hour spent on a task from the tasks view to the timesheet view
The most streamlined method of entering hours is by using the single entry mode. While using the single entry system, the task progress that is entered is the actual work and not as a percentage complete.
There are several duties that a site administrator needs to do before the team members start reporting their task and time progress. Here is a list of them-
Set up time reporting periods which are used on both the tasks and timesheets pages, they should be set up before either of the pages is used
Set up the timesheet line classifications that give a comprehensive picture of the project tasks. For instance, this also track the overtime classification that includes double time, holiday time and many more to add
Configure the timesheet settings and default to show how users are allowed to track time. Here is where the single entry mode is used
Configure administrative time categories involve specific categories such as sick vacation to meet your needs
Configure task setting and display to configure the update of task progress in various ways to meet the company’s need
If a task that you worked on during a given point in time does not get reflected on your timesheet, you can add it as a separate line in timesheet line
If a task that you worked for does not get reflected on the report task progress, you can add that task to your task status.
