How Cloud Software is Making Roads Safer - Image 1

The transport industry is characterized by high costs of maintenance, accidents, disasters, and loss of life. Around the world, many people are dying from car accidents every year. For instance, in 2015, the highest number of deaths and injuries in the US for a very long time was recorded. 38,300 people died while 4.4 million sustained injuries. The costs of these accidents were very high, such that the government vowed to intervene and find ways to make our roads safer. A number of tech experts were funded to develop something that would reduce the number of accidents on our roads. Working together with fleet experts, a cloud-based software was developed, and it has revolutionized the transport industry.

How does Cloud Software Make Our Roads Safer?

This is a question on the mind of many people. To answer it correctly, it is important to explain how the cloud software works. The software is an application that is usually installed on vehicles and connected to the cloud technology. After receiving information from road users, it send it to traffic authorities in real time. The software can work hand in hand with other applications such as towing software, thus increasing the safety of the road user.

Cloud software act as a link between drivers and traffic authorities, enabling them to share important information on what is happening on the road. The authorities deliver life-saving traffic advisories to road users, thus drastically reducing the possibility of accidents occurring. Traffic authorities have started a campaign to create awareness about the application so that numerous drivers can install it in their vehicle and be on the safe side. The cloud-based software feeds the driver with what to expect ahead, essentially setting their minds on the task ahead and at the same time increasing their concentration.

Reducing Traffic

Apart from reducing accidents, cloud software is saving drivers’ time by reducing congestion on our roads. Traffic jams cause a loss of billions of dollars every year, as they result in wastage of time and increased fuel consumption. Armed with data of a particular busy road, traffic authorities are in a position to come up with ways to ease the congestion. After creating the plan, they can use the cloud software to send to drivers passing through that route to keep them updated on the changes that are to be made. Reducing traffic jams will also lower the number of accidents and make the roads safer.

Acquiring Data

Prior to the development of the cloud software, traffic officers were using radio broadcast, traffic cameras, and digital roadside signage to acquire traffic data. These techniques have a disadvantage in that it is not possible to communicate to individual drivers. Therefore, the data transfer is one way, from the devices to the authorities. This is not helpful because the traffic officers may need to warn drivers about something that has happened at a particular location along their route. With cloud software, the message will be sent directly to devices installed in vehicles, where it will be displayed on the screens.

The cloud software facilitates the analysis of data collected from road users. The results of the analyses will be used to create regulations and guidelines that will be sent to road users. If drivers follow them to the latter, traffic congestion will be a thing of the past, and the number of accidents will reduce drastically.

Conclusion

The development of cloud software is a blessing to road users, as most of the hurdles they were facing on the road will be no more. Traffic jams, which every driver desist, will be eliminated. The fact that the software will be sending valuable information regarding the condition of the road ahead will help many drivers find an alternative route to their destination in case there is something blocking the road. The number of accidents will reduce, as drivers will be receiving traffic advisory in real time.
