Recently, I have tried to play the Audible AAX audiobooks I’ve purchased on my car. But I can’t find an easy and effective way to make it complete due to the copyright. All of you must know that audiobooks on Audible are in AA or AAX format, which means not compatible with my car audio system.
I believe many Audible user may have the same trouble when they want to play Audible AAX audiobook on non-supported devices. Actually, the only method to get rid of this dilemma is converting AAX to MP3, which playable on car or some other media devices. After I have done some researches, I found a useful tool that can help me listen to AAX audiobooks in my car, by converting AAX to MP3.
At first, I need to declare that this method does not offend against the law. Fair use laws says you can listen to them on any device, and that includes copying and/or converting the file. You can even have them on multiple devices at the same time. As long as you are not distributing or sharing them, converting AAX to MP3 for personal use is under the fair use doctrine. The DRM with Audible is not only to prevent you from sharing, but also to make you use their App to listen to audiobooks. So, you can get the MP3 files from AAX with no worries.
Well, let’s start now.
I got a program called TuneFab Apple Music Converter. I tried the free AAX to MP3 converter on sourceforge.com but they doesn’t work for me. What I concerned about most is to make the conversion finished successfully. I used its free trial version and it works perfect. The conversion is going smoothly and the sound quality is good.Step 1. Get the AAX to MP3 Converter
Go to its official website to download the TuneFab Apple Music Converter and get it installed on your PC or Mac.Step 2. Import AAX Files to iTunes
TuneFab need to only work with iTunes so you need to import your AAX files to iTunes before conversion. If you have already set Audible content to import into iTunes, you can directly find the AAX files in iTunes library. If not, just select add to library and import your AAX files to iTunes.Step 3. Select Audiobook to Convert
Quit iTunes after importing files. Now launch TuneFab Apple Music Converter and it will open iTunes again. Go to audiobooks section to select AAX audiobooks you want to convert.Step 4. Choose Output Format
On the bottom of main interface, set the MP3 as your output format. And, you can change the output destination folder for finding the converted files more quickly.Step 5. Start the AAX to MP3 Conversion
Click on the Convert button to start conversion. The process will be finished within few minutes. Actually, I converted 11 audiobooks successfully at a time.Don’t need too much steps and knowledge. It’s really a convenient way to make the Audible AAX audiobooks playable on anywhere. In addition, please use this tool responsibly, and only convert files that you own and purchased. I just use this program to convert the AAX files that downloaded legally from audible.com using my account. Take a try with this method if you need.
