THE MICROSOFT PHENOMENON

Microsoft Office is extremely easy to use, affordable and comes with online support. For these reasons and a whole lot more, MS Office has become an industry standard. The technological organization has introduced an operating environment as being a graphical operating system shell for MS-DOS, which serves as a response to the rising interest in graphical user interfaces or GUIs.

Contractors of Microsoft are in tune with the market forces. Furthermore, they concentrate on the technologies that are popular to secure a contract and with the greatest scarcity ideally. To have an understanding of the top Microsoft technologies, a community of Microsoft contractors have been asked about their tech focus at present and in the years to come.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MICROSOFT

Microsoft Office is an integral piece of software for businesses these days. It offers users the ability of keeping track of finances and stock with Microsoft Excel. It also offers the ability of presenting their ideas during meetings with the use of Microsoft PowerPoint. Furthermore, it enables users to keep a database of customers as well as their information with Microsoft Access.

TOP MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGIES

Contractors are not driven entirely by day rates. However, looking at their technology focus alongside their planned focus, there are some clear winners and losers when it comes to Microsoft technologies. The top include Azure, Windows Phone, Dynamics, Systems Center and Office 365. It’s interesting to see the growing popularity of Azure as reflected in nearly 200 percent more contractors who want to add it to their portfolio. Probably because it ranks in the top highest paid technologies, and is a central pillar of Microsoft stack.
Office 365 and Azure are popular as well with Microsoft contractors, both are prominent in the top five of Microsoft technologies. Interestingly however, SharePoint shows a drop of 20 percent in interest. In the last part of 2016, Microsoft has demonstrated a complete version of Windows 10 running on an ARM processor. Particularly, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 that runs at 1.6 GHZ with a 4GB of RAM. The demo showed 32-bit apps with no indication given on 64-bit, even if the processor supports it, running in the integrated emulation of Windows 10. This means that applications such as Photoshop could actually run, in full, on a mobile phone processor. However, no one expects this to be the slickest and fastest experience in the world, yet what it does is open up a world of possibilities for Microsoft this new year. Probably, it would also provide Microsoft a way of bringing back the ‘RT’ idea, with no need to hobble the array of available applications to use. Consider being able to use every Win32 application available, together with the Windows desktop as well. For a lot of people, this will be a huge draw.

SOME COOL MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGIES AND INVENTIONS.

1. Gaze Control. Keyboards are very yesterday, or at least that is what Tobii would like people to think. Put simply, the ‘Swedish’ eye tracking experts Tobbi will unveil a ‘Gaze’ eye controller for the new Windows 8 of Microsoft that could control a mouse pointer to about a quarter of an inch accuracy.

2. Instant Response Touchscreen. The Research’s Applied Science Group of Microsoft has developed a ‘next generation touchscreen that would respond to touch input in less than a millisecond. However, there’s no word yet on when this would be hitting smart phones and tablets.

3. OmniTouch. Microsoft Research has unveiled OmniTouch. It could be used in conjunction with PoketTouch. It could transform just about any surface into a touchscreen interface. In other words, researchers of Microsoft who use the Kinect technology and pico projectors made the two apps because they wanted to take advantage of the huge amount the world’s flat spaces.

4. Pinch-the-Sky Dome. The Pinch-the-Sky project of Microsoft Research is the result of the combination of a geodesic dome, Omni-directed projector, multi-touch technology, camera as well as a 3D model of the solar system. The researchers have always been suckers for Minority Report technology and the Microsoft Research’s latest attempt should not be missed.

5. Muscle-Controlled Computer. Microsoft Research is introducing an innovative muscle-controlled input system wherein EMG sensors are connected to the arms. The sensors are then used to detect ‘gestures of a finger based on the muscle movement picked up by the sensors. It does away for the requirement of a pesky camera to read complex hand gestures and could even sense modified versions of gestures to be performed while the hands are full.

In the coming year, there are indeed Microsoft technologies that belong to the top when it comes to usage and application.
