Having trouble storing your data securely

It’s clear to see that we rely on technology far too much these days. Technology itself isn’t the problem - it’s the fact that we’re so keen to run away with it. No matter how sophisticated our IT systems continue to get, they won’t ever be completely safe from operational risk. After all, where there’s machinery, there’s the potential for malfunction. We might not like to admit it, but it’s true. The only way to be fully protected from the infallibility of technology is to work with the concept of probability and the idea that two copies are better than none.
In this technologically savvy but digitally risky age, there is only one real way to protect and maintain digital data and that’s with some form of external storage. According to TechRadar.com, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a record management system, an external hard drive, or a company archive - as long as it is independently accessible. Any backup or storage system that you choose must be independent. If it relies on the power or capability of your network mainframe, it is not a reliable form of data storage. Here are just a few of the ways in which you can store your data securely.
Stick It In The Cloud
There are lots of wholly inaccurate concerns and anxieties about cloud computing. Consumers and businesses frequently mistake their fear of losing control with the idea that cloud based systems aren’t reliable. Fortunately, it’s just not true. If anything, cloud based storage is a lot more secure than the storage of data on a personal network or hard drive, says Forbes journalist Jessie Lipson. Cloud vendors base their entire livelihood on the safe storage of data - they invest millions of pounds every year in contingency plans and backup systems. As long as you pick a trustworthy, legitimate cloud vendor, there’s no reason to think that your data won’t be safe.
Invest In An External Storage Bank
Another great way to safely store data is in an independent, external bank or drive. These systems work in the same way as record management systems do - your data is stored in an external location that is always accessible regardless of whether or not your IT network is operational. External data storage banks are extremely reliable and very secure. Only two or three members of staff are permitted access to your information and these individuals will store it as efficiently as possible. Whatever form your storage may take, you can guarantee that it will be waterproof, dust free and completely safe from information thieves or hackers.

Make Security A Part Of The Business
According to SmallBusinessComputing.com journalist Jennifer Schiff, too few companies consider the possibility of educating their employees on the dangers of network computing. Why not draw up a comprehensive security policy and teach your workers how to adhere to it? That way, you won’t have to carry the liability if an employee breaches protocol - it will be instantly clear whose fault the breach was and you’ll be able to deal with it swiftly. Whilst it’s never a good idea to let anybody but the most senior members of the company access sensitive information, you are going to have to share your data with your employees. Make sure that they’re aware of the network rules and make sure that they know how important it is to use proper safety programmes and procedures whilst working online. Don’t let members of staff use social media sites whilst they’re at work.
