As we know that Microsoft is about to release its latest version of Windows based operating system with more features and latest updates, it is trying to create its presence in the market of Phablets that are poised to grow in large numbers across the world especially across emerging economies.

The new updates are aimed at providing flexibility to smart phone manufacturers so that they can make bigger screens and are able to offer much better and advanced accessibility options to users. As per Microsoft with the introduction of third update, the company will be able to deliver more platforms that are concentrated for 5 or 6-inch smooth touch screens.

How by eying Phablets Microsoft is trying to updates its windows operating system?

  • Before we proceed further we must understand the concept behind a Phablet. Well, Phablet is a smart phone like device, but bigger in size. Normal screen sizes offered by Phablets are around 6 to 7 inches.

  • There is also one more reason why bigger companies like Microsoft are trying to grab a share in this new market because it is one of the most popular and growing segments of technology especially in countries like India.

  • If recent trends and estimates are to be believed, there were about 3 million Phablets that have been shipped to India in the second half this current year.

  • Because of all the above-mentioned reasons, the new windows 3 update is made compatible for 1080p HD display screens and the company has plans to offer about 6 live screens instead of 4 screens on the main screen of the Phablet.

  • One more interesting trend is coming up and that is about the overall growth rate of Phablets because according to IDC, there were 17 times more Phablets that were sold across different markets and the overall share of the Phablet market is about 30 percent of the smart phone.

  • If we talk about India alone, the local market player such as Micromax, Lava and Karbonn have clearly outshined the international players just because of the presence of large screen smart phone devices like Phablets.

  • Hence, Microsoft is planning to launch low cost smart devices and that too with large screens and the option to have dual-sim.

  • Moreover, Nokia is also trying to grab more market share and is rumored to have already launched Phablet in Abu Dhabi.

There are chances that the latest Window 8 based phone will have more unique features such as Driving Mode that can be customized and have much better options like improved accessibility.
