What is a Digipak?

If you have a DVD or CD, or even a collection, to hand out to clients, employees or the general public, a Digipak is a polished alternative to the traditional plastic jewel case that marks the product apart. If you want to go that extra mile to create a product that feels as ‘premium’ on the outside as the disc itself, Duplication Centre can help.

The Essex-based firm is used to supplying the most demanding clients. BMW, Aviva, Vodafone and more are among their customers and with more than 50% of their work coming from repeat business, they are obviously on the right track. Since 2004 Duplication Centre has built its reputation on quality, customer service, fast turnaround and price, as well as investment in new technology. One of the first SMEs to invest in Smart Workflow, everything from online pricing, ordering and 24-hour turnaround are among the benefits to the customer.

What is Digipak?
Digipak is a generic term that now refers to a gatefold paperboard or card outer binding that contains one or more plastic trays to hold CDs or DVDs. Unlike jewel cases that are notoriously fragile, Digipaks are virtually shatter-proof and give you more 'real estate' to play with in terms of print space, as well as carrying artwork in a more stylish way than the traditional CD insert booklet. So if you have a lot of information or glamorous graphics that you want to display to their fullest effect, a Digipak is often the way to go.

The most common type of DVD Digipak holds a single disc and comes with four printed pages, but there are a number off options and a CD Digipak can contain up to eight pages, all elegantly gatefolded.

The Technical Part
Duplication Centre uses the latest digital laser printers to bring this exciting presentation method within reach for new clients. Before, the offset litho printing techniques meant plates had to be produced and runs of less than 500 were generally ruled out due to the costs involved. Now, Duplication Centre can satisfy orders as small as 5 and can provide up to 1000 before handing over to sister company the Replication Centre, which can offer greater savings on larger orders.

It has other advantages, as you can choose a shiny Gloss Laminate or go for something more subtle and authoritative with the Matt Laminate. As a rule, they use no less than 210gsm Xerox stock paper to give a professional looking result that feels luxurious in your hands and will stand the test of time.

High Street Finish

Of course the quality is assured and all Digipaks are professionally folded and guaranteed to fit together perfectly. In fact the finished product has all the hallmarks of a quality item you could buy on the high street, because it’s produced in exactly the same way as the commercial music CDs you'll find in the shops.
