Xbox One or PS4? Six Things to Take into Consideration When Choosing - Image 1

Sony and Microsoft have both released two very popular videogame consoles this Holiday season. On one side, you have the Sony Playstation 4. On the other side, you have the Microsoft XBOX One. Both of these consoles do things very differently and it can a little difficult to choose the best one for you. Here are six things you need to consider before choosing one console over the other.

1. Price

The price is usually the first thing that people worry about when it comes to new videogame consoles. Fortunately, neither video game console is ridiculously expensive. The XBOX One is only $100 more than the PS4. However, the XBOX One does automatically come with Kinect. If you like motion controlled gaming, the price increase may be worth it. If they don't matter to you, the PS4 is a better deal.

2. Aesthetics

The XBOX One is a lot larger than the PS4. The PS4 is sometimes referred to as an "italicized videogame console" for its slanted look. The XBOX One is ... a box. At this point, it's all personal preference. The XBOX One may look a little more subtle in an entertainment system, but the PS4 is just prettier.

3. Console Exclusives

Neither one of these consoles is going to play a Nintendo game. However, both consoles are going to have a bunch of cool exclusive titles. On the Sony side, any Uncharted game, Quantic Dream game, and Killzone game will be exclusive. However, XBOX One has games like Dead Rising, Titanfall, and you can also expect any Halo game to be an exclusive.

4. Applications

The XBOX One is called the, "One" because it's meant to be the center of your entertainment system. It has Blu Ray drive, social networking capabilities, and can even be connected to your cable box, and many other things. The PS4 is a little less ambitious. The One was designed to make the transition between videogames, TV, movies, and music seamless. Depending on the quality of your ISP, these features may not work as well. The only thing the XBOX is missing is a phone. You still need to go to http://www.bell.ca/Home phone/Long distance plans for a good phone plan.

5. Are You American?

Unfortunately, a lot of the TV features for the XBOX One don't even work overseas yet. The XBOX One obviously isn't going to be compatible with every single cable box in the world. The console is definitely a little more America-centric.

6. Graphics and Power

Ignoring all the technical mumbo jumbo, the PS4 is seen as being the more powerful system. It can natively run games in 1080p while the XBOX One has to upscale from 720p.

All in all, there are many different reasons to get a XBOX or an Playstation 4. Ultimately, the decision is up to you. The XBOX One is a better option for some people, the Playstation 4 is a better option for others. Hopefully this list determined which side of the spectrum you belong to.
