Yes, the buzz is all over the internet that Google is removing Authorship images and Google+ Circle count from the Search Results. Authorship for the blogs and content in search results is one of the primary reasons that many media agencies are existing on Google Plus.

It provides more visibility to blogger by showcasing the Name and Picture beside the listing in search results - and can also be seen as an opportunity to generate more search traffic to your blog.

As mentioned on Search Engine Land, John Mueller from Google said "the click through behavior on this less-cluttered design is similar to the previous one."
