Into Exchange when the need to restore database comes to the user, most of them go for a process where entire Exchange database recovery is performed to get an individual mailbox data. Suggestion: You should keep two copies of recovery database folder of the mailbox server. Pre-stage folders should connected with RDB1 having Mailbox02. At the other end, there should be another database with name RDB2.
4. Now, this is the step of restoring database within DPM console:
* Move into the recovery space, in which you will have to get left panel for selection of Exchange Server where replicas of the database will reside. If there is a use of Database Availability Groups (DAGs), then there will be replicated database copies into DPM
* Using DPM the recovery of standby copy will get performed using Mailbox Server Mailbox02
* Set the time of recovery using Date and Time frame, once the recoverable item area is selected make selection of Recover tab by making Right Click
* recover to an Exchange Server database and afterwards enter the Server name and recovery database those are designed to restore
* Complete the operation to fulfill the job of restoring database
5. The job from the DPM end when gets completed, the task of migrating content from recovered mailbox to the Recovery user mailbox folder will be the next task. Commands for the same :
6. Repaired content from Recovery mailbox is now need to extract into PST folders for delivering content with the use of Exchange Powershell cmdlet commands:
Note: Pre-creation of a folder for storing PST files is desired and this folder should have complete access rights for Exchange Trusted Subsystem group.
7. Now, it is suggested to transfer PST data to the user and afterwards deletion of Active Directory account will be done
8. And at the end, the recovery database removal for the restore job will get performed using Powersehll cmdlet commands:
The data and file will be still available into log folders and recovery databases, to delete the data there are not any kind of quick process. Deletion will be performed manually.
Caution: Within the process if you will skip a single step, then you may face data loss so, take care while executing the process.
