It appears that Apple and Google are giving tough competition to each other in the mobile world. While, Apple has come up with its iOS, Google has launched its Android some time ago. It is tough to state that whether Android is beating Apple’s iOS or vice versa, what we can do is compare both these to come to a conclusion.

If the number of applications is to be compared on both iOS and Android OS, we found that the former has over 840,000 applications in its App Store and 40 billion out of them are downloadable and 500 millions are device activations. The latter one on the other hand features 800.000 applications in its Google Play and out of them 30 billion are downloadable, and 750 million are device activations.
Revenue is a bit factor in deciding the best operating system out of iOS vs. Android OS. It is estimated that nearly 74% of the revenue is generated by Apple’s App Store in comparison to 26% of the revenue generated by not Android along with Windows Phone and BlackBerry. So, in terms of revenue, it is clear that Apple’s iOS is far ahead than Android OS.

Now, let us compare some features of iOS and Android OS against each other. The former belongs to Linux OS family, while the latter belongs to OS X family. The former comes with a variety of widgets that are missing in the latter one. Apple’s iOS comes with an open source, while Android OS comes with a closed source with some open source components. The former incorporates programming like C, C++ and Java, while the latter one comprises of programming like C, C++ and Objective-C. The former offers Gchat, while the latter offers Facetime for video chatting.

In terms of domination world wide, reports state that Android is more popular in the Europe as compared to Apple’s iOS. While, the latter one is enjoying its majority in North America. It won’t be wrong to state that the battle between these two operating systems is one of the biggest competitions in this year, with each offering its own advantage.
