Job Description Statement of Job Develop, administer, and direct the Companys comprehensive loss prevention process at the factory location to ensure a proactive approach of continuous improvement in injury reduction and safety management. Direct factory efforts to ensure the location is in compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements. Works closely with factory management, medical personnel, insurance carriers, and the MCE Manager to manage the Company safety process. Utilizes McCain continuous improvement techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Adhere to the McCain continuous improvement process of McCain Foods USA, and reflect a thorough understanding of MCE in all work activities. - Direct the key element based safety process at the factory location. Supervise safety training, job safety analysis, and behavior modification as the principle means to effect a proactive loss prevention process. - Avoid OSHA citations and associated fines by establishing programs of required work practices, training, accident investigation, hazard control, etc., and ongoing audit of these practices to assure compliance. Maintain contacts with regulatory - agency representatives. - Administer location Workers Compensation insurance program, manage claims, - monitor management and reserving practices, and assure that only legitimate - compensable cases are paid. - Facilitate employee safety committees and act as a resource for department safety - meetings held by Line Supervisors. - Periodically review and update, as needed, all required hazardous waste, business - plans, emergency preparedness plans, and evacuation plans, etc. - Plan and administer a factory safety budget that will maintain a safe place in which - to work. - Administer a standardized record and reporting system for the documentation, classification, analysis, and reporting of injuries. (KPIs) - Support Engineering in managing environment compliance issues assuring that all regulatory agencies requirements are met. - Review new operations, equipment, and materials for potential hazards to ensure they comply with regulatory requirements. - Work to improve morale through operation of a safe and healthy workplace. - Be familiar with SARA TITLE L EHS and SARA TITLE 3 FORM R for plant. - Supervise the entire plant security function.(7 guards) - Coordinate all plant safety training and documentation. - Facilitate Round table discussions on all serious incidents within the plant. - Provide direction to nurse and company physicians in Workmans Compensation claims. - Facilitate modified duty program. - Facilitate Job Safety Analysis and Safe Work Practices programs. - Manager, or his/her designee, is responsible for annual and/or ongoing training. - Take responsibility for continuous improvement in both Safety and overall Plant performance. The incumbent must demonstrate managerial ability amongst peers, exhibit a high level of employee relations skill and credibility, and be able to successfully interact with individuals from varying work disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
The incumbent is responsible for directing the factory administration of the Companys key element process to safety management which includes: behavior modification , supervisor training, and employee involvement.
The incumbent provides technical support interpreting complex governmental regulations to all levels in the organization. The incumbent is the initial factory representative in the event of regulatory inspections.
The incumbent critically evaluates and directs location resource and payment practices of the Companys Workers Compensation Insurance carrier. Incumbent meets on a regular basis with insurance representatives to audit for the purpose of ensuring accurate accounting of losses.
The incumbent stays current on regulatory legislation to ensure factory management is aware of developments. Incumbent provides direction to ensure compliance.
The incumbent conducts safety audits of the location to ensure areas requiring attention meet compliance requirements.
The incumbent ensures that all location Front-Line Supervisors receive safety process module training.
The incumbent interfaces with Engineering pertaining to the location to ensure ergonomic, noise, and process management efforts are focused to meet the Companys requirements.

SPC Responsibilities - As a member of the leadership team at the facility, your participation in the continuous improvement process is expected. This includes taking an active role in process improvement initiatives, employee training and upgrading your current skill base. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Education: Four year science or business degree. A Safety Management degree is preferred.
Experience: Thorough working knowledge of workers compensation, OSHA compliance, and accident prevention process. Three to five years safety management experience in an industrial environment required. Must actively and continually be involved in attending workshops, seminars, and CEUs in the safety area.
