The Role As a Network Support Engineer, youll be on the front line at 1st/2nd line level and be the first technical point of contact for customers. Its just technical queries that youll be dealing with and sitting in their network operations centre (NOC) , youll be working with and learning from some high end Cisco and Juniper experts and weve found some of the people weve placed at this level previously have had quite rapid growth onwards and upwards in the business.
This is a hands-on role and will suit candidates with previous experience in a helpdesk/technical support desk role ideally in an MSP/Telecommunications company although not essential. Youll be passionate about networking and be looking for an opportunity to work across the full company portfolio of services and gain experience across many technologies. The company work with Cisco on the customer side and Juniper for the ISP side.
We dont want to turn the specification into a wish list as who you are will play a big part in this recruitment process but to cherry pick, if youve worked in a similar role supporting broadband and/or Ethernet services, knows SLAs and how to deal with tickets and is now looking for a next step in their career, then this could be right.
We deal with most of the larger ISPs around Manchester and while they can be a great place to start a career, it can be a bit of a closed shop by way of progression and weve found some of the engineers that have joined from the larger companies have welcomed the ability to contribute, and have a bit of a voice on a day to day basis by way of best practise and ideas.
Ideally you will have a CCNA or be studying towards this however this isnt essential, any other formal networking qualifications such as CCENT or CompTIA are great too.
On the subject of qualifications, the company are big on training and are happy to put candidates through formal Cisco (CCNA and eventually CCNP) or Juniper (JNCP programme) training - and weve seen this done previously with the engineers that have joined over the past 2-3 years..
Who are you
* Previous network support or network focused support in a helpdesk/support desk or NOC. * A Telecommunications background, ideally from an ISP/MSP/Telco supporting broadband and/or Ethernet * Layer 2/Layer 3 troubleshooting experience * Certifications such as CCENT, CompTIA, CCNA (or studying towards)
Any experience of the following is desirable and would be a big tick in the box:: * Ethernet, MPLS, voice, data and security services * Juniper, Cisco, Fortinet or Mikrotik equipment
Salary is 22,000 - 26,000 + pension, healthcare, 25 days holiday, breakfast every morning, early finish on a Friday (beers), funded and supported training from Cisco / Juniper / Fortinet etc.
