Position Description:
The Internal Audit Data Analyst will be responsible for supporting Internal Audit and Internal Control projects related to business and IT processes throughout the organization, including annual Sarbanes-Oxley compliance procedures. The risk based Internal Audit plan includes assurance and advisory projects covering financial, operational, strategic, technology and compliance risks. This position will actively drive the integration of data analytics and associated data visualizations into internal audit projects in order to deliver innovative, insightful, and actionable analyses.
The Internal Audit Data Analyst will play a role in all phases of the project lifecycle (i.e., planning, scoping, execution, and reporting), demonstrate professional curiosity, have a continuous improvement mindset, and possess the desireaptitude to rapidly learn new skills. Individuals in this role are comfortable with changes in workload andor focus of work and modify actions accordingly. The candidate will also exemplify the highest degree of trust and integrity by continually upholding Burlingtons core values and professional standards.
Primary Responsibilities

- Accountable for the execution of assigned Internal Audit, Internal Controls (Sarbanes-Oxley), Risk Management, andor Governance projects of varying complexity and scope covering: financial, operational, strategic, technology and compliance risks.

- Proactively develop business partnerships and maintain a presence with management, where applicable, in order to understand business strategies, challenges and risks.

- Collaborate with all stakeholders to continually refine and enhance existing analytics and identify potential new opportunities to further drive audit effectiveness and efficiency through the use of technology and Computer Assisted Audit Tools (CAATs).

- Analyze information technology and business process controls, identify risks and recommend innovative data analytic approaches.

- Help deliver long term value to the business by developing a continuous auditingmonitoring capability by promoting the use of data analytics in operations and ongoing monitoring by the business.

- Regularly work with various levels of Company management and keep IA and management informed of engagement status and important issues as they arise.

- Assess the impact of observations and present them in a persuasive and confident manner. Write clear, concise, and meaningful reports and issue summaries.

- Stay current on changing rules and regulations both in the industry and profession. Pursue continuous professional development through training, certifications and education, and shares with IA team members in order to develop the team.
Core Responsibilities

- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.

- Conduct reviews of specific operations requiring the evaluation of data, interpretation of intangible or unusual factors, summarization of findings and presentation of recommendations and suggestions.

- Document complex processes and apply that knowledge to data analytic script design, execution, and testing.

- Consistently exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

- Ability to travel as needed. Out-of-town travel less than 5%.
Educational, Experience, and Skill Requirements

- Bachelors Degree in Data Analytics Business Analytics Data Science, Information Systems, Business - Accounting Finance, or other related field with solid academic credentials.

- 1-3 years related professional experience in a data analytic focused role with a combination of public accounting, IT andor internal audit with industry experience (retail, consumer business) preferred.

- Experience with commercial data analytic and visualization tools, such as IDEA, ACL, PowerBI andor Tableau preferred.

- Experience implementing data analytic scenarios from analysis and design through testing and training highly desired.

- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

- Demonstrated team management and project management experience, including facilitating meetings and following-up on action items.

- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, dynamic, and fast-paced environment with strong inherent project execution skills, including: prioritizing competing tasks, balancing workload between multiple projects, anticipating next steps, adapting to changing situations and project scope.

- Strong interpersonal skills required, including: written and verbal communications, willingness to assist in areas outside of direct assignments when necessary, and commitment to self-improvement and completion of team objectives.

- Strong executive presence and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain management relationships.

- Relevant certification preferred (e.g., CISA, CIA, CPA, or CISSP)
