Client is seeking an experienced Scrum Master who can help lead and support software development teams focused on building next generation education solutions software. As Scrum Master you will utilize communication, technical, and organization skills to remove impediments, enhance collaboration, and ensure that the team delivers value to the customer. Your chief objective is to ensure that the team produces the highest quality software possible providing tangible value to customers. You must have demonstrated ability to effectively coach a software team in an Agile environment. The ideal individual has a passion for leading and motivating Scrum teams, is detailed oriented, and practices servant-leadership.

 

 

How You Contribute: Facilitate Agile methodology and ceremonies including daily stand-up meetings, demos, retrospectives and other activities as needed.Support the Product Owner through management of product backlog with focus on delivering features while maintaining a high standard of quality.Collaborate with the Product Owner and team in determining commitments for product backlog items and sprints.Help balance the prioritization of technical debt against new feature innovation and software delivery.Create a positive and open communication channel between team members, Product Owner, Project Manager and stakeholders.Effectively communicates project statuses, including risks and dependencies to Project Management and/or leadership.Assist with internal and external communication strategies to improve transparency, and radiate information.Insulate interruptions to team and drive resolution to impediments.Address team dynamics, resolve conflict and resource constraints. Foster a culture of collaboration, teamwork, innovation and service excellence.Use Rally as a tool to assist scrum team efficiency.Coach and train other Scrum Masters and provide coaching on Agile practices and recommend enhancements to improve effectiveness. Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field, and 8 total years of IT experience. A combination of education and experience, including military service will also be considered.3-5 years of Agile delivery experience and/or recent hands-on experience as a Scrum Master.Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified or Professional Scrum Trainer (CST, PST).Experience working on software development teams with an understanding of software development and software quality disciplines.Working knowledge of: Scrum principles and proficiency with agile/scrum development methodology. Leading relational database management system (preferably Oracle). Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with technical and non-technical audiences.Strong leadership, time management, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.Passion for leading Scrum teams to continually improve quality and delivery. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Live within a commutable distance of Herndon, VA. Desired Skills: Second level Scrum Master Certification (CSP, PSM II).Demonstrated experience working in a Scrum Master role for multiple teams and/or experience leading a team.Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
