Red Hat Certified Administrator (RHCA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or SUSE Certified Engineer (SCE) or LFCE (Linux) Foundation Certified Engineer
Oracle Linux OCA & OCP (desirable)
HP-UX Certification (desirable)
ITIL (desirable)
COBIT (desirable)
8 Years relevant IT experience
2 Years’ experience in a Managerial / Supervisory role
Experience with fibre channel-based storage (HP 3par or similar)
Experience provisioning and configuring Solaris virtual servers using logical domains and zones Experience or working knowledge of databases (Oracle, MySQL, DB2 or similar) (desirable)
OSB Back-up (desirable)
Project Management
Understanding Disaster Recovery (DR) process
Knowledge of VMWare based systems and related virtualization tools
HP Blade server environment, Itanium based systems and ProLiant server range
Knowledge of Software and Hardware RAID, Logical Volume Manager, Solaris and Solaris Zones
Scripting skills, KORN, BASH and PERL
Knowledge of networks and routing, including security tools such as firewalls and intrusion detection
Troubleshooting skills of performance-based problems quickly and effectively on all *nix platforms and have working knowledge of *nix-based performance tools
Server hardening techniques including IPtables, Firewalls, SELinux, and SSH


To supervise the UNIX team
To train and manage staff to ensure that they have the skills required by the organization/department and are able to achieve their performance objective
To liaise with customers and related departments to resolve service-related queries and provide advice in order to ensure effective service delivery
To manage third party suppliers and service level agreements in order to ensure cost effective delivery of services
To contribute to the IT strategy and budget development to ensure that it is line with the business needs
To contribute to the development of IT policies and develops and implements SOP’s accordingly in order to ensure compliance with policy and regulations
To manage the UNIX/ LINUX environment and patches in order to ensure security, reliability, capacity and availability of systems for end users
To produce system usage statistics and highlight areas of concern
To maintain the system documentation in order to ensure business continuity and continuous operations
To manage internal IT projects in accordance with business needs in order to ensure effective service delivery.
