The Cable Plant Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
Design and manage structured cabling systems
Perform root fault cause analysis on cable failures
Ensure performance specifications are maintained
Develop and implement enterprise-wide cable plant standards
Maintain configuration control of all structured cable systems
Conduct site surveys, create and gain approval for change request documentation IAW IT-Services processes, perform cable moves, adds, install and changes, and update planet database to reflect the location of current and future network cabling
Work trouble tickets generated through Remedy.

This position is located Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama.

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 6 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 4
years of general experience; Bachelor's degree and 2 years of general experience; Master's degree and 0 years of general experience.
Must have 4 years' directly related experience in codes and standards, media and connectors, structured cabling systems, bonding and grounding, pulling cable, cable splicing, cable termination, testing and troubleshooting, data centers, planning and project management, safety, and firestopping systems
Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance.
BICSI Data Center Design Consultant certified.
Registered Telecommunication Project Manager (RTPM), Registered Communications, Distribution Designer (RCDD), and BICSI Cabling Installation Program: Installer 1, Installer 2 (Copper), Installer 2 (Optical Fiber)
Experience with cable database maintenance (i.e. CAD, planet database).
Experience with Remedy ticketing, Cable/Network Operations, Telephony, Systems Administration, Audio/Visual, Integration Engineering, or IT Services.
Experience base with all major audiovisual manufacturers including Extron, Vitec, as well as Audio and Video Test Equipment.
