Are you a strategy manager/senior strategy analyst who has a keen passion for strategy formulation, planning and able to connect the dots around an organisation Our client, a leading UK based professional body, is seeking an experienced Strategy and Planning Manager to lead on strategy and planning across a range of business, functional, product and IT initiatives. This is a new post within the clients Change team and offers the chance to raise the strategic acumen of planning and management activities across their organisation. The ideal candidate should have a track record of being able to elicit, simplify and communicate complex strategy proposals and be capable of transitioning strategy into action. You should have expertise in all areas of strategy development, including project management, business analysis, and problem-solving. You will need to be a great listener, confident, articulate and persuasive and someone who enjoys sharing and developing ideas within a team. This is a great opportunity to be the thought leader on strategic planning within the clients organisation, with an additional opportunity to lead on the creation of innovation and benefits management functions from scratch. Key Responsibilities will include: -
Manage strategy development and organisational planning across the clients organisationLead on the development and approval of business casesSupport the clients executive management team and business function heads with strategy formulation, and business planningLead on long term planning and prioritisation forthe programme pipeline Reporting on strategy, objectives and measuresLead by encouraging innovation and driving external customer, market-focused mind-set across the organisationEnhancing the governance process for large project approvalsSet up a benefits management function and monitor benefits realisationOversee and ensure quality for all strategy outputs and project proposals Develop and exchange best practices in business strategy planning and change management
You will need the following skills and experience: -
A proven track record of working as a strategy manager ideally in a variety of organisations/sectors with a strong emphasis on being able to translate strategy requirements into actionStrong experience of business case formulationA good knowledge of strategy formulation and planning methods and an ability to apply the right tool sets to a variety of strategy challengesExceptional communication and stakeholder management skills up to the C-suite A good knowledge of portfolio, programme, project management and business analysisChange management skillsAbility to find a good balance between working collaboratively and leadingTrack record of implementing strategic initiatives in cross-functional and matrix environmentsDegree or relevant qualification with a large component of strategy development Structured, methodical thinking and approach to strategy developmentComfortable splitting your time, energy and attention across several projects and stakeholders
Any of the following would be an advantage, but are not essential: -
Familiarity with process improvement approachesExperience in both Prince 2 and Agile environmentsExperience setting up innovation and benefits management functionsProgramme management or Portfolio Management qualification(s)
