Palmdale Regional Medical Center serves the region by providing high quality medical services to residents of the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities. With the recent addition of the Rehabilitation Institute, the hospital features 184 licensed acute care beds as well as inpatient and outpatient surgery, cardiac services featuring a STEMI Receiving Center (heart attack) and a 35-bed 24-hour emergency department.  The Center for Wound Care provides treatment for people with chronic non-healing wounds. This comprehensive wound-healing service includes hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Palmdale Regional Medical Center is active in the community and regularly participates with the Antelope Valley Board of Trade, Greater Antelope Valley Economic Alliance, Chambers of Commerce and other civic and governmental groups. Essential Job Duties:

Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services the Sr. ER Technician is responsible to administer patient care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.  Follows the plan of care set by the registered nurse and/or physician, managing the individual needs of the patient with regards to their age and clinical diagnosis. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties in the Emergency Department in order to ensure and maintaining smooth patient flow. The Sr. E.R. Technician has specialized skills and knowledge in Emergency Care for all patients from infancy through geriatric.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE: 

High School Graduate or equivalent One year experience in an acute care setting preferred

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Current CA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or LVN Blood withdrawal certification required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross required Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification required within 90 days of hire EMT, CNA or Medical Assistant required –OR- Currently enrolled in RN program with successful completion of 2 semesters of clinical coursework.Basic dysrhythmia certification or obtained within 6 months of hire

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, regulatory or accreditation requirements  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Basic to Intermediate Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:  Intermediate to High Skills:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and Title 22 standards and guidelines. Demonstrates compliance with hospital policies and procedures at all times. Ability to set priorities and appropriately organize workload and complete assignments in a timely manner. Familiarity with basic medical laws and ethics, i.e. consents, confidentiality. Knowledge of emergency procedures, medical terminology and medical abbreviations. Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the public. Must have knowledge of PC and applications.
