Your new company
Well known university based in London is seeking to recruit an Information Governance Officer to start ASAP on an initial 3 month contract.

Your new role
The Information Governance Officer is responsible for processing in formation requests, providing advice and guidance and the development of policy. They will support the Information Governance Manager to ensure data protection risks are mitigated for the University, to support compliance with Freedom of In formation (FOI), data breach and subject access requests (SARs) and related in formation legislation and to help develop the information governance team as a centre of expertise for the University in in formation compliance and records/data management. Deliver face to face training as and when required.

What you'll need to succeed
1. Support the creation and maintenance of relevant registers such as the Information Asset and Processing registers for compliance with GDPR, and retention schedules.
2. Oversee and support Privacy Impact Assessments for projects and initiatives throughout the University as necessary.
3. Engage with business change projects from across the University to ensure privacy is considered and built in from the outset, and influence approach to ensure compliance.
4. Provide expert advice, support and training to departments and teams to ensure ongoing compliance regime and engender continuous improvement.
5. Take day to day responsibility for ensuring compliance with data protection obligations. This includes all subject rights, promoting best practice and developing new practices and processes to improve data management standards.
6. Ensure up to date knowledge and understanding of current and forthcoming privacy legislation.
7. Provide expert advice and robust challenge to University managers to ensure that projects and other initiatives include consideration of privacy and data compliance issues.
