An exceptionally exciting opportunity for a Security Analyst has opened up within a leading Global Manufacturing / Engineering company in Cornwall.
The role is to provide an integral part of an established team providing the management and support of the group wide IT services provided to the Company.
Key part of the role is in supporting is providing information security management across the Group, by working with individual sites to provide a secure IT environment. Primary amongst the responsibility will be the proactive management of the existing Windows & application patch management processes, and the corporate anti-virus / malware tool across the 1500+ PC clients and servers currently used by the Group across 40+ sites.
The main duties and responsibilities are as follows, but not exclusive:
Monitor computer networks for security issues.Investigate security breaches and other cyber security incidents.Resolve detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard.Monitor the group service management tool and resolve any support calls allocatedReview application and system logs to proactively manage any issueAdministrate Windows & application patch managementAdministrate the corporate anti-virus, malware protection software and other processesAssist the SSE site audit process,by for example assisting the site with their self-audits, or performing an on-site auditPromote all security measures and procedures in place to protect systems and information infrastructureWork with Group sites to ensure timely completion of security related tasksCreation / update of procedural documentation and relevant reports as requiredDocument security breaches and assess the damage they causeWork with the parent company security team to perform tests and uncover network vulnerabilitiesWork with our parent company in the development of company-wide best practices for IT security Leading or contributing to projects for system upgradesWorking on a rota basis provide out of hours priority 1 supportResearch security enhancements and make recommendations to managementStay up-to-date on information technology trends and security standards
Experience / qualifications required
Experience IT system administrationKnowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues (desirable but not essentialDegree in a related field (desirable but not essential)ITIL Foundation certificate or above (desirable but not essential)
The perfect candidate will have a deep interest in IT and furthering their career in this field.Excellent analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities are a must, along with the tenacity and desire not to be beaten by a problem or issue.Strong written and oral communication skills are essential as customer service will be integral to the role, as will the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and provide a high-quality service.
Hours are Monday - Friday over a 35 hour week with some flexitime. Competitive salary.
