The Cloud Tech Architect will be part of the Platform and Tools team within Nielsen's Data Science organization. The primary goal of the Cloud Tech Architect will be to enable Data Science to leverage cloud resources in day-to-day work. This will be accomplished by evolving the framework from which Data Science operates, developing tooling to lower the barrier to entry for new cloud services, as well as influencing best practices in the software development life-cycle.
Architect solutions for Data Science leveraging cloud technologiesUpdate current tech stack for various teams within Data Science to scale and use cloud resources efficientlyAssess user workloads to determine which cloud services can and should be appliedImplement CI processes and Cloud solutions frameworkCoordinate with Engineering teams to ensure standard operating procedures are followed with regards to PII, security, and cost tracking Work with internal data providers to grant and ensure access to dataKeep up to date with new cloud services and how they may be leveraged across Data ScienceTroubleshoot and Support user issues as they ariseManage projects consisting of cross functional teams including data science, engineering, and product leadership
Degree in Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other Quantitative field of study3 to 5 years experience with Linux/Unix like systems3 to 5 years experience with Python, Bash or other Scripting languageDetailed knowledge of key AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM etc.Hands on experience designing and building out the foundational infrastructure in AWS (VPC s, subnets, Route 53 set up, ELB s, IAM Roles & Policies)Expert with Infrastructure as code concepts and hands on experience with Ansible, Terraform, or Cloud Formation.Strong knowledge of software version control (Git/BitBucket/Gitlab) in a collaborative environment.Knowledge of additional cloud providers (Azure/GCP) a plusKnowledge of Jenkins/AirflowKnowledge of containerization frameworksFamiliarity with SQL and databasesFamiliarity with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop/Spark/EMR a plusExceptional problem solving skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills.
