JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for managing server and network infrastructure to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
MAJOR DUTIES Installs and configures server and network hardware. Installs and configures hypervisor and/or hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) software. Performs and documents detailed analyses of application problems and errors; provides results to vendor. Analyzes and corrects hardware and software issues. Designs, develops, and tests backup and recovery operations as required. Manages user accounts, security, and access control lists. Develops project plans, system specifications and requirements. Prepares implementation schedules and assists in the coordination of systems implementation, testing and documentation. Maintains and upgrades application software, operating systems, and services. Ensures that applications meet current requirements and ensures compliance with applicable Florida Statutes and Administrative Orders. Establishes and maintains working relationships with department heads and other employees. Maintains the security access for all court-related systems. Validates and processes external user requests for access to court-related applications. Coordinates and performs system migrations, enhancements, and upgrades. Performs system/database backups/exports as required. Tests, evaluates, and implements new application version releases. Assists and trains users with application issues and procedures. Creates process and procedures documentation. Performs other duties as assigned including problem solving and continuous process improvement.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of server computers and operating systems. Knowledge of Linux operating systems. Knowledge of hypervisors and virtualization. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Active Directory. Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, IP addressing. Knowledge of relational databases. Knowledge of web server software (IIS, Apache, Nginx). Knowledge of network hardware and software. Knowledge of file transfer protocol tools. Knowledge of information technology security principles. Skill in identifying and resolving software application errors. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports. Skill in oral and written communication
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Information Technology Director assigns work in terms of division goals and objectives. The director reviews work through conferences, reports, and observation of division activities.
GUIDELINES Guidelines include Florida Statutes, Administrative Orders, technical advisements, and IT best practices. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK The work consists of varied information technology management duties. Frequent changes to IT standards contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to manage and support server and network infrastructure. Success in this position ensures data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
CONTACTS Contacts are typically with co-workers, other county employees, vendors, consultants, and members of the public Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while sitting, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects. The work is performed in an office.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 3 years of experience in managing Windows Server and Active Directory. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 5 years of experience in managing a complex heterogenous Windows and Linux environment. Previous experience with infrastructure automation and monitoring. Previous experience with managing Azure Active Directory and O365.
