Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) is a critical and essential enabler to deliver a safe and responsible supply pipeline of Raws Packaging Materials, Premia Items and External Manufacturers (EM) products to the Business. This role is an integral part of the Commercial Division that ensures successful delivery of Mars Commercial Sourcing Strategies and will require to collaborate cross functionally to protect the integrity of our Raw Materials. The role of the Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) Manager is defined by the following:
Be Responsible for the Rice portfolio project management in Asian countries collaborating with global X-region stakeholders (North America, Europe, Australia etc.) and taking some functional leads in AST SQA team.
Be responsible for the Raw Materials Supplier Quality Assurance program, including continuous improvement and development of suppliers and materials.
Responsible to implement appropriate Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) programs with the supplier to deliver an assured pipeline. This role will highlight and manage the quality and business risks in the inbound pipeline through implementing Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) procedures and systems (Nexus) across all partners, and communicate them to the business stakeholders.
Drives quality and food safety metrics that allows measurement and benchmarking a key enabler in improving the suppliers status to the desired level to meet the requirement of business operation activities.
Be a key member for prime activities of raw material that ensures on-time delivery of projects or given tasks
Ensures standardised implementation of appropriate Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) programs [Mars Materials Quality Management (MQM)] that ensure all requirements to manage the quality and business risks in the inbound pipeline are implemented consistently.
Overall handling of Supplier Development activities of all suppliers in India and South Asian region
Leading Value creation Herb Spice and Rice projects for South Asian region
Stakeholders Management for Entire Indian portfolio for Mars Foods Australia/ North America/ Europe/ South Africa
QFS Sustainability program implementation for Rice in South Asian region
Leading the team compliance of ASTMQM compliance
Nexus- QMP (Quality Management Program): Leading QMP for Asian Sourcing team
Drives the compliance of MQM standards at the supplier base.
Responsible to contribute to the AST Food segments strategy
Shares and explores the external innovative thoughts/ ideas/ best practices from suppliers back to the business (buyers, RD and other stake holders)
Engage with cross segment SQA community within Mars to identify best practices, improve processes, coordinate cross regional supplier reviews, and collaborate on strategic projects
Context and Scope
Provides insight and support in the development and deployment of Commercial Sourcing strategies as well as Prime Activity program to the buyers and/or Business Units
Maintains the Asian Supplier List for food segments for assigned suppliers with real-time update based on information given by the Business Units and suppliers
Conducts Material Risk Assessment (MRA) against the assigned raw materials
Advise on the suitability of raw materials and ensures the supplier performance conform to the Mars specifications
Conducts on-site audits and follow up CAR (Corrective action Request). Follow the general Mars SQA Audit management procedure.
Immediately notify Line manager and key stakeholders in case of critical non-conformities, where Mars products/ consumers are or could potentially be at risk so that supplier is transparent to all.
When necessary, analyse and resolve assigned supplier related problems, determine root cause and corrective / preventive action when necessary in accordance with the PRIMP requirements
Monitors and measures SQA KPIs on a periodic basis and update the business units accordingly
Prepares the development and continuous improvement plans to upgrade the supplier status
Maintains the SQA database and supplier certification program for suppliers within the SQA associate portfolio and regularly update the status to the Business Units
Provides relevant technical and where applicable business insight to support Commercial preliminary potential supplier assessment
Complete Supplier and/or risk assessment process to all new supplier and new material in accordance with Mars sourcing quality standards
Drive stakeholders engagement and communication
Drive compliance of the AST Quality Management Program (QMP) and supports the internal, segment and LRQA audits to assess compliance as aligned with Global Mars QMP program.
When required develops and reviews the AST SQA QMP protocols before uploading onto Nexus
Assigned any other roles and responsibilities deem necessary by the business
Education Professional Qualifications
Masters degree in Food Science / Food Engineering/Food Technology or General Science
Knowledge / Experience -At least 10 years in Food industry and quality assurance.
At least 3 years in Lead auditing experiences, either suppliers or internal audit. GFSI lead auditor certificate will be an advantage.
Background in production area especially in Herb Spice, Rice or their related industries will be an advantage.
Experience in project management
Experience in FMCG environment will be added advantage
